My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a tad sarcastic, but sometimes people misread it as me being snarky. I'm nice, I promise. OK, a little snarky too. I crave conversations that make me think and interactions that make me smile. And I'm easily entertained, not easily impressed.

I love trying new things, and it's really rare that I say 'no' to something. I also love learning and books and Tumblr. Anything I can get my hands on to expand my mind and get perspective. I bend towards social justice books and sites in particular.

Something most people wouldn't guess about me is that I like being the one pursued. I don't tend to make the first move and that's especially true with women. Part of it is that I'm attracted to semi-assertive/confident/bordering-on-cocky types and so I find the pursuit to be very sexy.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am a PhD student in Higher Education at Loyola University Chicago and that keeps me pretty busy. So I'm also open to more than just long-term-right-away relationships, mostly because of time and tight finances. Whatever happens, happens.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Adding movies to my Netflix queue. Being snobby about beer. Making pumpkin muffins out of a box with instructions. Hating snow (really good at this).
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My facial hair?
My winning smile?

Let's meet and you can tell me what to put here.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I mentioned really liking social-justice-y books, like "That's Revolting: Queer Resistance to Assimiliation" and "Feminism for Real". One of my favorite books is Robert Fisk's "The Great War for Civilisation" and I love Peter Balakian's "Black Dog of Fate". My current reading list is bound by my syllabi, but they include some pretty cool books like "The Racial Contract", "Racism Without Racists", and some not so cool ones like "Experimental and Quasi-Experimental Designs for Research".

My Netflix queue is full of documentaries, and TV shows, like "Weeds", "Dexter", "Mad Men", "Big Love", "The Good Wife" and "Nurse Jackie". I watched all of "Orange is the New Black" in less than a week. I do also have a strange affinity for teen TV shows like "Pretty Little Liars" and "Gossip Girl". I know, they're awful. So awful, they're great. My favorite documentary is "Slingshot Hip Hop" and my fave movie is "Whip It". I love Ellen Page. My weekly ABC show rotation includes "Nashville", "Grey's Anatomy", "Scandal", "Revenge" and "Once Upon a Time".

I like most kinds of music, except for most country, and I'm not much of a metalhead. I prefer socially conscious rap and R&B to the commercial stuff, and I enjoy a good dance party.

I love food! That's it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Human interaction. Books. Sunshine. Loved ones. Traveling. Laughter.

P.S. This turned out to be a much more touchy-feely list than I think my personality would have people believe I would come up with.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How I change my perception of circumstances I find myself in. And when the next time I get a full night's sleep is or the next day I won't need coffee to keep me awake.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either recovering from a long week or celebrating the start of the weekend with friends and drinks. These days it even includes a riveting reading or writing session.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I lean towards non-monogamy, and I'm currently seeing someone. And I'm trans. We can discuss that stuff in person, and you can ask me about them through message too, but I am hoping we can talk about more than just that.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You feel like it. You enjoy going out dancing or chilling with dinner/movies/drinks. You're open minded and non-judgmental. Who am I kidding? Judgey can be fine too sometimes.

You're open to meeting up and going from there. Messages on here are cute but I'm not looking for a pen-pal.
