My self-summary
Warning, nerd alert!

What you have just found is a proud nerd. I make no qualms about the fact that I have eclectic tastes in...well, just about everything.

Yes, I work in the information technology field.
Yes, I read science fiction and fantasy.
Yes, I play video and board games.

Now that the disclaimer has scared off some of you, I will toot my own horn (isn't that what we are supposed to do in these summaries?):

I am a great friend. You know that guy that you call at 2:00 in the morning because your so-called 'designated driver' did not realize that drinking was prohibited in that role? Yes, that is me. This is not to say I am a doormat friend, but if you are worth being a friend to, then you are worth me being the best friend I can. I expect my friends to do the same. I am also the kind of friend who will tell you when you are being an idiot (usually in a nice way). Consequently I have befriended some of the best people anyone could hope to find.

I am professionally successful and competent. I do not equate this as being monetarily wealthy. I am, however, good at my job and this allows me to eat and keep the lights on and put gas in the vehicle.

I enjoy new experiences. I like travel and excitement. I am not an adrenaline junkie, but I do appreciate unique adventures.

I am really good at getting things done and getting people organized. I am a take-charge guy. I am not one to settle for things to be just 'ok'. I guess I can sometimes hold people to a higher standard, but to be fair, I hold myself to even higher standards. My dominance extends across virtually all facets of my life. This is not to say that I can not release control. I am more than happy to let another take charge if that gets things done. I am, however, capable of holding my own with any other strong personalities.

I am unique, quirky, and intelligent.

This is a work in progress (just like me).

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I am a voracious reader. I read almost everything aside from inspirational books (can you say saccharine) and romance novels.

I love movies, especially at the theater. I will watch most movies, though I shy away from horror unless it is GOOD horror (well, or so abysmal that it crosses into comedy); romances unless they are romantic comedies; and pure drama unless it is historical.

I am not a fan of television shows. I have a television. I use it for a computer monitor. Sometimes I will watch a few episodes of something on NetFlix. Usually it is an older geeky show. I did catch the HBO series 'Game of Thrones,' based on the series by George R. R. Martin. It was excellent. The books are better. I highly recommend them to fantasy readers.

My musical tastes are all over the place, but I dislike country. I grew up listening to 'old rock.' Led Zeppelin, CCR, and such. In high school I went through a heavy metal phase. Metallica, Anthrax etc. Post high school I dabbled in 'classical' and 'opera' music. Rimsky Korsakov, Wagner to name a couple. When I hit 21, I hit the club scene and started enjoying techno. (Honestly never cared about the artist if it sounded good.) Basically I like what sounds good at the time.

As far as food, I love Italian and Chinese, but nothing compares to 'home cooking.' I seem to be eating a great deal of sushi lately. I am no connoisseur, but I have fun with it!
