My self-summary
I am a nerd. And yes, we come in brown. ;)

I am NOT a "douchebag" who is only looking for a one -night stand or casual sex. I am looking for someone smart and cute to spend my free time with.

A friend told me once that he had read somewhere that only 2% of the world's population displays what can be considered as "true passion." I am the 2%.
What I’m doing with my life
Writing and directing films that win multiple awards but make very little money. Gotta fix that at some point. And teaching at a local film school to pay the bills.
I’m really good at
Writing
Cooking (from recipes)
Making films
Winning film festival awards
Poker
The first things people usually notice about me
Baby face
Cool frames (re: eyeglasses)
Contagious laugh
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOKS
Anything approximating Southern Gothic...including William Faulkner, Flannery O'Connor, Cormac McCarthy, and Toni Morrison. Throw in anything Junot Diaz, Don DeLillo and Richard Yates. Still haven't gotten around to Franzen or Lethem, yet. Been meaning to fix that.

MOVIES
Most films directed by Wong Kar-Wai, Takeshi Kitano, François Truffaut, Terrance Malick, P.T. Anderson and Shohei Imamura. Anything Charlie Kaufman. My all time favorite film, however, is CITY OF GOD. I saw SUBMARINE on a plane recently and was amazed that there is still some humor, pathos and originality to be squeezed out the "Coming of Age" genre.

TV
The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Community, Parks & Recreation...and Girls (yep, I admit it). And anything cooking related, food & travel related, and pretty much everything on the Food Network.

FOOD
Anything and everything. Just moved back to LA from NYC, so I'm psyched that this a comparable "food town." Loving the varied Asian and Latin cuisine in my neighborhood (Wilshire Center/Koreatown).
The six things I could never do without
Coffee
iPhone
Laptop
Good Food
Sex (have to admit it)
Making movies
Kitchen gear
(Yeah, that's seven! What?)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My first feature film.

How to break into TV directing.

Story themes: broken people, self-destructive tendencies, alcohol dependency, drug addiction, cycles of violence, psychological dysfunction, existential legacies...

...Boston Terriers...French Bulldogs...

...and Korean BBQ.
On a typical Friday night I am
Since I don't know that many people here, and the few friends that are in the area are super busy industry types, I'm usually working on lesson plans or personal film projects. I know: BORING! Sometimes I grab drinks with my friends, though. It seems just as hard to catch up with people here as it is in New York.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 26–42
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You think you might like chocolate but hate stereotypes.

If you're into smart, arty guys that aren't millionaires.
