My self-summary
From New York. Live in LA. I'm a screenwriter. I was supposed to move back to New York, but work kept me here. I'd already leased my house to a tenant, so I moved into a loft Downtown, where I have learned to ask people what their preferred non-normative gender pronoun is. I have never been to India but I have travelled the world. Got thrown out of one college and graduated from a better one. The filter between my brain and my mouth has often failed me over the years, but it is also the source of my imagination which has done all right by me. I'm a descriptive grammarian and I don't have a favorite color because I'm 38. It's blue. I make a lot of mistakes, but I'm good.
What I’m doing with my life
Write, travel, hike, eat, watch films, run, cross-fit, read, play bad guitar, write songs and sometimes I sleep in a hyperbaric chamber.
I’m really good at
lately, i've been running. after two weeks, i can run a 6 minute and fifteen second mile which far exceeded my expectations as a runner. i'm an excellent mimic, i never forget a face, i have a very good memory and I'm funny. I'm very funny.
The first things people usually notice about me
the enormous hole where my face should be, my giant laugh.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Lately I've read: Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon, The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes, Play It As It Lays by Joan Didion, The White Album by Joan Didion, Lobby Hero by Kenneth Lonergan, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard, Fear Index by Robert Harris, a lot of essays and short stories by JL Borges, August: Osage County by Tracy Letts,
Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, and I just bought 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami.

Film: Being There, The Long Goodbye, High and Low, Manhattan, Once Upon A Time in the West, Apocalypse Now, Strangers On A Train, Notorious, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Dr. Strangelove, There Will Be Blood, Rushmore, Bottle Rocket, All About Eve, Double Indemnity, Diabolique, Amadeus, Network, Old Boy, Rebecca, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, Le Dîner de Cons, The Big Sleep, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, No Country For Old Men, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Third Man, Silence of the Lambs, The Ref, Giant, The Godfather, Winter's Bone

Kurt Vile (Childish Prodigy)
War on Drugs (Wagonwheel Blues)
Father John Misty (Fear Fun)
Liars (WIXIW)
Wilco (Kicking Television)
Blake Mills (Break Mirrors)
First Aid Kit (Drunken Trees)

The six things I could never do without
Beyond Maslow...

Hiking (I used to hike everyday before I moved downtown. Night hiking is my new favorite. Mt. Lowe during a full moon is epic. The wildflowers, the moonshadow)

Music (Sometimes I think I'm the only one who realizes we're in a musical. Singing and dancing at inappropriate times will happen)

I spend a lot of time thinking about
existence. being present. things i overhear strangers saying. things i regret saying. characters who think, say and do awful things so i don't have to. the way all cities look like computer circuits from the air, and that maybe i am actually an artificially intelligent life form that has been tricked into believing it is human.
On a typical Friday night I am
having dinner with friends and avoiding people who mispronounce roman a clef, misuse the phrase "begs the question" and think the word penultimate means the best
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I think we're all in virtual reality.
