Late at night, a police officer finds a drunk man crawling around on his hands and knees under a streetlight. The drunk man tells the officer he’s looking for his wallet. When the officer asks if he’s sure this is where he dropped the wallet, the man replies that he thinks he more likely dropped it across the street. Then why are you looking over here? the befuddled officer asks. Because the light’s better here, explains the drunk man.

That's kind of how I feel about singles' sites. I'm not sure they are the best place to find true love, but the light is better here.

I am twice divorced with no children, but I have been spoiling a black Standard poodle for 12 years. I was born in Atlanta, spent 4 years in Puerto Rico (ages 10-14) and came back to TN to live with my grandmother. I finished my growing up in TN. (Well, actually, whether or not I'm grown up is debatable.)

Starting over. I was unemployed for almost two years and finally got a job in Smyrna. I really like my job. I am moving to Nashville (
Antioch) on Sept. 15 to be closer to work. The commute to Smyrna from Columbia is about to kill me.

I started working out in May. I exercise 3 times a week during my lunch hour. I haven't lost any weight yet, but I feel better and have much more energy. I will eventually lose some weight.

Spelling, editing, trivia, kissing. I used to be good at dancing, but haven't done it in a long time for lack of a partner.

Nobody notices me.

Books--Biographies of historical figures (I love to read about Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.) and certain actors and actresses, some historical fiction.

Movies: Casablanca, Moonstruck, Funny Girl, Bull Durham, The Big Chill, lots of others.

Shows: MASH, The Big Bang Theory, Designing Women, Two and a Half Men (before Charlie Sheen became such a public jerk), lots of others, mostly reruns.

Music: Oldies from 60s, 70s, 80s; Rob Thomas, Uncle Kracker, Maroon 5, Five for Fighting; pop, rock, classic country, some classical. A little bit of everything except rap.

Food: Steak, Italian-especially spaghetti, sweets--I am a chocoholic!

I am very flexible and adaptable--if I have to do without something I figure out how to do without it. I would prefer not to do without my dog, tv, chocolate, friends who make me laugh, friends who keep me looking forward to e-mails, and earrings--I seldom go out without a pair of earrings--not expensive, but ones I like.

Whether or not to approach someone I am interested in. If I see the profile of someone I like, I may decide he wouldn't be interested in me. I have written long messages to people in the past and received no response. Being ignored hurts. I try to respond to everyone who writes to me, even if it's just to say no thanks. Sometimes I never write to someone I am interested in because I am waiting until I think up something that will impress him. Whether I am putting too much importance on the wrong things--like spelling and ability to communicate well in writing.

Home. After working and commuting all week, I am pretty tired and look forward to not having to prepare for work the next day.
However, Saturday night would make a nice date night.

I am a member of a singles group that does lots of activities, and I hope to get back into doing things with them.

I don't think I want to admit anything private in this forum.
