I am The, Walrus, and Coo coo ka-choo.
My Self-Summary
I'm
INTJ,
apparently.
I'm also slightly disturbed that my personality can be condensed
into four letters.
My job is technical, I have artistic leanings, and I like to stay
physically active. The runners-up for my three adjectives above are
"outdoorsy", "geeky", and "moody". Particularly geeky. I get into
computers,
games,
cartoons,
comics,
anime, etc. I read alot, mostly novels in
the sci/fi fantasy genre, but I also like to read up on scientific
topics, and mythology/religion. I have a vast network of the best
friends a person could ask for. And a cat. The cat is key.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm working on getting around to thinking about grad school. I work
in Educational Technology at a university. I have been a comic book
artist, a carny, a sysadmin, a musician, a graphic artist, a screen
printer, a craftsman, and a
Tae Kwon-Do instructor. I may yet,
someday, have a job that has something to do with my degree.
I'm very interested in the making of things. I have extensive
experience in
metalwork,
leatherwork, various aspects of
CG and
programming, and have been
gradually adding knowlege of carpentry. I once said that it is
entirely possible that I was put on this earth to make shiny
things.
Recently, I have been consciously making an effort to be more
social and open. It seems to be working.
I’m really good at
Overanalyzing various minutia of pop culture in an attempt to be
aware of, and in some cases anticipate, concepts and potential
problems lurking in our cultural subconscious. Also, stir fry.
The first things people usually notice about me
I often look angry when I'm not. Apparently my thinking face is
angry-looking.
I have received enough comments regarding the quality of my
posterior that it may be worth mentioning here.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: I love to read. An entire room in my house is dedicated to
books. I default to reading
Terry Pratchett or
Dune by Frank Herbert if I'm
reading nothing else. I just finished devouring the
Kushiel Series by
Jaqueline Karey and found it immensely enjoyable. Neal Stephenson
is another favorite. Mostly I read fantasy/sci fi, and an awful lot
of tech manuals, and books on philosophy and religion.
Movies: The Classics: Labyrinth, Willow, The Princess Bride, Star
Wars, Indiana Jones, etc. The entire
Firefly/Serenity saga currently occupies
the top-slot in the fan-boy portion of my brain (yes, I am a
Browncoat).
Troy, Return of the King, and Batman Begins are up there too. I
loved the new Star Trek.
Music: Old folk tunes, U2, Sevendust, Alice in Chains, Static X,
and Powerman 5000 to name a few. I also like some Classical and New
Age
Food: I like all kinds of food, and I love to cook. Sushi is the
current favorite, with good chinese being a close second.
The six things I could never do without
1. Friends and family.
2. Paper and pencil
3. A computer
4. The Notorious Baron Arthur Von Weirdcat
5. Camping
6. Books
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What our fictional stories say about us as a society.
Ways to make my life more self-sustaining with less impact on the
environment.
Living in the woods.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working on some project or another, playing online, or spending
quality time with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have occasional bouts of anxiety-driven crazy. They typically
don't last long.
You should message me if
If you are particularly crafty, friendly, or techie, and enjoy
conversation about the nature of stories and the concepts presented
therein.
You are a liberal do-it-yourself type that thinks human-powered
vehicles and home-based electricity production are good
ideas.
If you are also a geek, and like geeky stuff.
If you are female, and want to go with my equally geeky girlfriend,
arsenic_wafer,
dancing or to an annoying girly film (though you'd do just as well
to message her instead).
