I am friendly, honest, and stable.
My Self-Summary
I'm a pretty laid-back guy who, after an absence, is looking at the
idea of getting back into the dating pool. I am not at all
impressed by money, possessions, and all that. I would far sooner
date someone who works retail and is happy than someone who works
in a fancy office but is miserable. I definitely have a spiritual
side, but it has nothing to do with gods/goddesses. I am interested
in politics, but not necessarily in participating. My life is
enjoyable but hardly jet-set. I am delighted to do work that
generally I am passionate about. Nonetheless, I do not have all the
answers to life's mysteries, do I?
What I’m doing with my life
Currently, I am working on a variety of projects involving the
legal system in Minnesota. Additionally, I am taking classes in
(loosely) comparative religions and Chinese (in preparation for a
trip there in November 2009), and am part of a committee organizing
summer 2010 assemblies at my place of worship. I am also adjusting
to the reality of having a diabetic cat! And spending good time
with friends along the way.
I’m really good at
holding my own in a conversation, writing, problem-solving (OK,
much of the time, not all of the time!), and probably other things
too.
The first things people usually notice about me
Physically, my eyes. Beyond that, I hope they notice my sense of
humor and having people suspect I am intelligent is often useful as
well.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Food: anything South Asian, esp. Indian and Thai, or Mexican.
Books: some of my favorite authors include Margaret Atwood, Michael
Cunningham, and David Leavitt (and I will cop to having looked
forward to the new Dan Brown book). Movies: anything
black-and-white and/or pre-1945 will probably get my attention;
otherwise, I like comedies or dramas, not so into action and
violence. Music: my XM is often tuned to any of the following: 80s
alternative, classical, opera, new age, or dance.
The six things I could never do without
Books, friends, a sense of purpose, music, sleep, and access to
nature.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
my work (does it still make a difference, will the economy affect
it, where am I headed professionally), my activities at my place of
worship, and other affairs of the world.
On a typical Friday night I am
either at home being supervised by my cats, or out with friends
(dinner, cards/games, movie, museum, etc.). Not much of a bar
person, but I have no ideological opposition to them or anything.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I occasionally blow money on the oddest things, and have a weakness
for getting things framed.
You should message me if
you have the slightest inclination to.
