My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I have a yellow car and if my 2 year old nephew sees a yellow car he'll start yelling my name. So there's at least one person who thinks I'm a pretty cool guy. I also taught him how to say "Doctor Who" but he pronounces it "Doctah Hy-oo." Close enough.

My name is Matt.

I'm a pretty laid back guy. I like having a drink or two with someone interesting in a quiet bar where we can talk. I hate clubs and don't think I will ever see the appeal of them.

One of my favorite things to do is go to the Keystone Art cinema and check out a movie and discuss it with someone over a beer in the Indie Lounge. It's a really cool, fun atmosphere.

I'm not very interested in sports but I'm determined to go to at least one Colts game at Lucas Oil. I also really want to check out an Indy Fuel game.

If I'm cold, I'm far more likely to put on a hoody instead of adjusting the thermostat.

Hiking the trails at Eagle Creek over the summer is a lot of fun. I'm looking for an equally peaceful activity for the winter and am open to suggestions.

If I hear the music from the trailer for Inception I can and will recite all the lines from the trailer. It's also been my alarm sound on my phone since the movie came out.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I lost a lot of weight a couple years ago and gained some back. So I'm trying to get that sorted out.

I worked nights as a security guard for 8 years but now I'm finally on a normal 8-4 schedule, which is great. I worked as a private investigator for a year and enjoyed it, but I'd rather have a more stable job.

I'm always seeking a good time and a cool story. And I like meeting new and interesting people.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Identifying (from memory) which episode a line of dialogue from one of my favorite shows is from.

Wearing glasses. I do it all the time.

Listening. It's a cliche to say that, I know, but I'm genuinely curious about people and their experiences and love hearing a good story.
The first things people usually notice about me

My dimples and my stunning inability to grow decent facial hair.

Books: Any well written and well researched nonfiction (particularly American history and true crime). The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt by Edmund Morris and The Savage City by T.J. English are two I recently read and loved.

As for fiction, I flew through the Harry Potter series a couple years ago and loved every page. I really want to read it again soon.

I'm also a HUGE Stephen King fan. I love The Dark Tower series, The Stand and The Shining. His character development is incredible.

I get distracted trying to figure out how I would adapt a book I'm reading into a movie. I obsessively consider what kind of changes I would make so that the narrative would translate to film.

TV: I watch a ton of TV. LOST, Doctor Who, Breaking Bad, The Wire and Community are some of my favorites.

I can't for the life of me get into Mad Men and that bothers me way more than it should.

I love sitcoms like Arrested Development, How I Met Your Mother, Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Office.

I grew up watching Wings. If you watched it too (or even know what it is) we can be friends.

I can have a serious discussion with you about television for hours and not be bored for a second.

Movies: The Dark Knight, Memento, Inception, (500) Days of Summer, Kick Ass, Saving Private Ryan, The Shawshank Redemption, The Avengers, The Social Network, 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Looper, Back to the Future trilogy, 2001: A Space Odyssey, 127 Hours, Her, Gravity, Super 8, The Raid, Alien, Nightcrawler, X-Men Days of Future Past

I have a deep appreciation for Pixar movies. Both for the nostalgia and the consistently impressive visual effects, vocal talent and brilliant storytelling.

Music: I like what I liked in high school. Alternative, pop-punk, rock. Motion City Soundtrack, Jimmy Eat World, The Killers, The Starting Line, Fall Out Boy all stand out.

About 85% of the Recently Added playlist on my itunes is music I've heard in movies and tv shows.

I listen to a lot of podcasts too. Serial is obviously a big one. I also love Startup, Nerdist, /Filmcast and a bunch of others. I host my own podcast with two of my friends. It's a lot of fun.

Food: I like a lot of different things and I'm always up for trying new things. Indianapolis has a lot of really good food trucks. It's always fun to track down my favorites.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I just reactivated my account out of boredom. I haven't been on OKC since early 2013. So I'm spending a lot of time thinking about how ridiculous my profile was.

I also spend an absurd amount of time thinking about movies. Right now I'm thinking about how disappointed I was in Interstellar.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Surrounding myself with good company having a good time.

Whether I'm just having some drinks with some friends at a bar or seeking out new and exciting experiences, I always try to be as interesting and entertaining as possible.

I have a TV/Movie blog and podcast at:

We just recently hosted a live event in Irvington at the Irving Theater where we showcased short horror films from local filmmakers and screened Night of the Living Dead. It was called Shocktober in Irvington and we raised about $300 that we donated to the Irvington Historical Society.

The "private" part of that that I will admit is that I was incredibly nervous and stressed about the event. But it went off without a hitch and we're looking forward to doing it again next year.

Honestly, I just reactivated my account out of curiosity and boredom. It's been a year since I've been on here and I just recently went through a breakup.

So I don't know how often I'll check this. If you find me interesting and want to know more about me, send me a message.

Also, here's a joke:

What do you call a latte with a cold?
