History books, horror movies, extreme music and anything I can
consume (except things like canned fish...that's just wrong).
To expand, yes I'm a nerd, I read a lot of history, specifically
WWII. The sacrifice that Americans made for that war just blows my
mind, I don't think that it could happen again (and hopefully it
won't need to).
I always say that I don't read fiction, which is somewhat of a lie.
I love the works of H.P. Lovecraft and if you do too let me know.
If not you seriously need to check him out. Some brilliant
writing.
And yes, I enjoy the darker side of life. That doesn't mean I am
evil, I just have a different view on things...
So some of my favorite movies...Evil Dead, Halloween, Texas
Chainsaw Massacre, Any Romero Zombie flick, Argento from the 70's,
Chasing Amy(really any Kevin Smith movie that's not Jersey Girl),
Monty Python, Mr. Show, The Muppet Show(anything Muppets really),
Scorsese, Tarantino and the list goes on...
I guess you could say I welcome what's already out there but what
most people like to believe doesn't exist. The world can be a
rather dark place but that doesn't mean we have to avoid it.
That being said the music of Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Cream...that
shit blows my mind. How can you make such powerful and beautiful
music? I guess that's why I'm a music fan and not a musician.
Lately I have been reading a lot of cookbooks, really food and
science. What is actually happening in your food and why this is
happening, what the end results are. It is really changing my way
of looking at food, and my own cooking. Thank you Heston
Blumenthal, Thomas Keller and Ferran Adria!
