--Before I start my profile I have a small note for the ladies on okcupid, and I am speaking in the name of a lot of guys here.
I totally understand why you reply very selectively (there are way more guys than girls here btw) and why you would ignore the flood of nonsense messages (ie. hey babe, hey sexy) or any creepy/harassment messages you get, in such case the ignoring policy is totally justified; and those guys wouldn't even care of being ignored anyway because well...obviously it's something they do all the time. "Bel 3arabe el mchabra7, Mtamsa7in".
But before you choose to ignore someone who sent you a well-articulated polite and genuine message/question just because he's not your type or ugly or younger or of different religion, or you have no dating interest in him for whatever reason, please consider the following:
The person who's sending you such well-articulated message/question is not some shopping item but he's a human being, please keep that in mind.
And in life, the *minimum* level of respect toward another human being is acknowledging his/her presence when he/she addressing to you. Okcupid shows the user which people visited his/her profile so he/she would know if the message he/she sent was read yet ignored. If you greet someone in his face yet he chooses to totally ignore you like you're not there, how that would make you feel? Exactly.
A honest reply like "I am not interested" or "not my type" is way more respectful than ignoring the sender, at least in my opinion, I am not sure if you are raised differently but what I know that acknowledging the presence of the person who's talking to you is the *least* kind of respect.
And I do this myself all the time here, I even reply to girls all the time whom I totally find unattractive because I believe it's ultimately rude and degrading to show them that I am not acknowledging their existence.
Hmmm...so this is the famous OkCupid, the formal place where weirdos gather to breed and plan for the next invasion on earth. Sounds a perfect place for me, so let me introduce myself:
….*cough cough *
I am just kidding.
Or maybe not?
Anyway, here we go:
General Background: I am a (look above) year old guy, and I live in Beirut, Lebanon. Now, before I proceed ....note that I really don’t mind if you don’t know the location of this tiny, crazy country on the World Map …you’ll need a magnifier to see it anyway, but if you don't know what the Middle East is, don't overburden yourself by guesses, just simply AVOID contacting me.
So yeah …..After clarifying this point …let’s proceed.
Now to the serious part, gals!
