My self-summary
Prologue
'allo. I'm Tryn. Nice to meet you. Pull up a chair, get yourself comfortable. Would you like a cushion for your back? Help yourself to some coffee, I've got a nice Hawaiian blend brewing.

All right, now with that out of the way, we can dispense with the pleasantries. How many bears does it take to eat a dinosaur?

If your first question wasn't "Black or Brown Bear" or "Are we talking velociraptors or a T-Rex?", what was it?

Ah, still here? Excellent.

History
I went to University of Texas specializing in computational linguistics, since I found it fascinating combining high level computer science theory with natural language. Basically, trying to get computers to understand us!

Social Life
Most of my friends are geeks as well, tending towards coming over and playing an action/adventure video game or board games, or watching Master Pancake (a live action version of MST3K) at the Alamo Drafthouse, a local theatre in Austin, TX.

Road Trips
When I was living in Little Rock (where I'm from), I once drove all the way to Texarkana one night with a friend, for the hell of it. I had to pick up a rock on the Texas side of the border, for some reason. I think I was collecting rocks at the time.
What I’m doing with my life
Prologue
Ah, stare at the walls, there, my dear Mademoiselle. For there you see the grand plan that I have for our tea empire, for the British East Indies Trading Company!

...no, wait, that was something else.

Work
My last job was working as a software engineer for a NoSQL distributed key-value database that is designed to scale across hundreds of servers within a datacenter. Basically, if a computer went down, your entire system wasn't down, so you could still function.
I’m really good at
Being a pedant. It's a completely useless skill if you ever want other people to talk to you, but at times it does come in useful.

Of course, it's never said what we're really good at has to be USEFUL. Just, we're really good at it.

I've honestly debated about getting a law degree. I'd be interested in either working for the EFF or ACLU.
The first things people usually notice about me
It actually varies, but there are three things someone typically notices.

Tattoos
My Mirror's Edge tattoo. I love it so. First tattoo, and I decided to go all out and do a sleeve. I also have a Ghost in the Shell neck tattoo, showing off cybernetic neck plugs.

Hair
My hair color. Right now, it's blue. It's been red, regular blonde, and platinum blonde. I'm going to do the Rainbow. If only I could be Rainbow Dash.

Ears
My elf ears. They're a bit more subtle, but some people notice instantly. Some try to call them Spock ears, and I point out that Vulcan ears are more curved, and then we get into an epic nerd battle.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Suffice it to say, I used to have a list of all this, then lost it.

Potentially I'll fill this out more, but in the interim:

1. A Numbering System that goes to at least Six
2. Cats
3. Internet
4. Meds
5. Ultimate Power
6. ELECTRICITY
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Well, it varies. Here's an example.

I was staring at one of my cats the other day, and noticed she doesn't have any lips. Then I realized it seemed like only humans have lips. Pigmented lips. Like, not skin pigment, but red pigment. Why do humans have lips? Why are they red?

It's far more fun to continue this train of thought without looking anything up for the boring answer.

Another thought is keeping my OkCupid profile in a git repo, so I can keep track of changes as I continue to edit it. The problem is syncing it, since I don't like manual copy and pasting. AUTOMATE. EVERYTHING.
On a typical Friday night I am
There's nothing typical about a Friday night. It can vary from staying in and watching a Harry Potter marathon run, to trying to find a usable hot tub in someone's apartment complex (why do all the "nice" complexes not have them, but the average ones do...), going downtown and trying to get free drinks through friends, or sleeping.

Or something else.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Apparently I'm a Myers-Briggs Personality Type of INTJ.

I'm a transwoman. Still learning. I fall really feminine on most things, and really masculine on a few things. I'm not necessarily trying to change that, but grow more aware of what is the norm.
