Hmm, does being on A-List make me stand out more, or does it make me look like a follower?  Or something in between?

I've been trying this online dating thing for a few weeks now; until recently, I had dealt solely with actual human beings. That changed yesterday, when my very first scammer contacted me (on another site). She was theoretically from New Gay, TX; the 1,800 mile gap was a pretty clear hint as to what was going on, but "her" broken and generic English certainly cemented my certainty as to her goals.

How common is this? And what do they really expect? I'm a bit curious to just find out through study, to be honest, but I suspect that just being told is a more satisfying (and safer) experience.
