My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
The sorting hat said I could be Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, but mostly I'm a Ben Wyatt. Oh god every time I reactivate this thing I cringe at what past me wrote. I mean, most of this is still pretty relevant despite being like 2 years old but I'm trying not to take myself quite so seriously these days. tl;dr: I'm a big ol' nerd and compassion is pretty friggin' cool.

My politics are important to me - liberal and feminist as hell - I'm playing life on easy mode & trying to do my part to lower the difficulty across the board. I'm not actually straight but that's all I'm comfortable with when it comes to online dating so there's that. Otherwise I'm a run-of-the-mill list of adjectives, hobbies, and experiences.

Despite this horrifically stuffy profile, I'm goofy and usually funny, but still working on making that come across in text.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Reveling in the absurdity of existence. (And still a little weirded out over how strongly The Stranger resonated with me after one of my philosophy phriends demanded I read it.) Meeting new people, doing new things, trying to make my part of the world a better place.

I'm a system administrator and I love the hell out of my job. I love the sort of problem solving that requires deep inspection of a problem and happens rarely enough to require statistical analysis to get right. (Like the LHC - no first-hand visibility, but gobs of data! ) Between that and spending most of high school studying Buddhism instead of class material, my focus on social justice seems pretty inevitable from here.

Short-term real life: Failing at trail running, museum exploring, occasional brewery tours (ugh, so Coloradan), nerdy events of various flavors, and driving for Lyft. Lyft has been really good for keeping me from being too engrossed in my social bubble. It's also a fantastic moderator for my introversion. Downside: Participating in the 'Sharing Economy' is a little worrying, like I'm making money off of increasing class stratification? Gotta suss that out...

I'm trying to keep up on activism, but it seriously burns me out. Volunteering I can do though; working at the Food Bank of the Rockies has been phenomenal.

Finally figured out my optimal life is an urban life. It's good to feel connected to what's going on around me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing too much but talking too little.

Being mistaken for an extrovert.

Whatever the word for "failing to write a bio" is. Also word games. English is my favorite toy.

I was also recently voted "best boyfriend you ever had" by a friend of someone I've never been in a relationship with. Not sure exactly what that counts for but it was entertaining at least.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Best description I've heard from someone else: "Gentle giant". Though I don't know if 6' quite qualifies.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I love learning new things. I should figure out how to get a permanent slot in the list of Today's Lucky 10,000.

If you're as nerdy as I am, avoid BookBar (44th and Tennyson) at all costs. You will spend all day reading and drinking wine and eating snacks and it will be the worst, I swear or something

I mostly watch just PBS Idea Channel and listen to Welcome to Night Vale. My crushes on Mike Rugnetta and Cecil Baldwin are an added bonus.
What else... Like... all? of the Netflix Originals. Sense8 has been excellent so far. Doctor Who, Discworld,Adventure Time come on grab your friends, BSG,Farscape, ST: Voyager (Don't hate!),Harry Potter. Office Space changed my life! Neil Gaiman is awesome too. (Did I tell you about the time I got him to sign my Kindle and he stopped to tell me a story about hanging out with other famous Neils and I almost lost my cool?!) Speaking of Neil Gaiman - Good Omens is Gaiman/Pratchett GOLD. We'll also throw in "Anything Science Fiction" to round it out. Guilty pleasure: A capella. Don't tell anyone I loved the hell out of Pitch Perfect and I can't get enough of Pentatonix. It'll ruin my reputation. And by ruin I mean solidify.

Vonnegut's been great.

Music: Hard to quantify, like almost everything, very few dislikes. Devotchka's singer is one of those few. Devotchka's instrumentalists more than make up for him though.

Games: Anita Sarkeesian is my hero.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. A problem to solve or a project to complete
2. Feminism
3. Something new to experience
4. Bad puns
5. Unfinished lists.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I'm pretty scatterbrained so it's hard to pinpoint. Probably...uh... social justice, technology, how to keep meeting new people, how to be a better human?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Trying something new.

Or I'm out too late because my ideal waking hours are like 10 AM to 4 AM
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I cry at sappy movies; I'm pretty firmly in the 'submissive' camp and allergic to bananas! (I figure if you're gonna be a niche product you might as well own it)

you miss the RTD days and long for Moffat to be re-relegated to single-episode work.

you're a badass.

puns are your thing.

feminism is cool.

you want a hiking/trail running buddy
