I'm more of a fan of science fact than science fiction. Lately,
I've been reading the trade publications since I've returned to the
salon life after a 2 year absence.
I think Inglorious Basterds is the funniest, most well made movie
in a long time (if you happen to look like
Daniel Bruhl, don't worry about the
rest of this profile... I'll find a way to make us work ;). ) I
love most every James Bond flick but love the Ian Fleming novels
much more.
I listen to and sing
pop music from the 60's. I'm saving up
for a jukebox mostly as a place to store all my 45's. I (try to)
swing dance
and enjoy that style of music too. I finally saw the Squirrel Nut
Zippers this spring after a 10 year saga of trying.
I like most food... A lot. I had a pretty nasty injury and couldn't
play sports anymore but kept up my same eating habits. I've had to
change my diet in a pretty drastic way because I was creeping up to
200 pounds. I'm far from fit now, but working on it. Just don't try
to get me to eat fish or octopusses. I won't.
It seems lists work best, so:
Books -
Ian Fleming's
James Bond
Novels, Devil in the
White City, 1939
Herman Miller Catalogue, Ps
and Qs, The Colour Kittens, The Great and Secret Show
I just bought "7 Stories by H.G. Wells" from Barnes and Noble. I
figure that I'll learn better time travel by reading about others'
mistakes. Kinda like game tapes. Wasn't H.G. Wells a cousin
marrying eugenicist? Oh well, can't knock them all out of the
park.
I have a great love for books produced before 1950. The paper
smells so good and I like the way it feels in my hand. I have just
read a collection of poems called "Pack up Your Troubles...". On a
big vintage catalogue kick right now. Thinking of the past world
and how pretty it looked.
Movies -
Inglourious Basterds, On Silent Wings,
Memphis Belle, The
Rocketeer, The Wizard of
Oz, Stepbrothers,
Edward Scissorhands, Eyes
Without a Face,
Metropolis, Nosferatu, Dr.
Strangelove, movies based on comic book heroes (LOVED Capt.
America!!), Asian horror films, Hard Day's Night, the silent
Phantom of the Opera, Teenagers from Outer Space, Rear Window
On the TV, I like
Twilight Zone, Parks and
Recreation (but I think you need to be from Indiana to really get
it), Hell's Kitchen... That's about it. The only reality shows I
like are about horribly destructive behaviour like hoarding and
drug addiction.
Music -
Smashing
Pumpkins,
Glenn Miller, Lawrence Welk,
Squirrel Nut Zippers, ABBA, KISS, Cher,
The Who, The Beatles, Petula Clark, The
Hollies, My Chemical Romance,
Murder By Death
Food -
I don't eat things that are smarter than me. That leaves two
options... a) work hard and get smarter than octopusses or b) don't
eat octopusses.
I don't drink a lot. I prefer cocktails to beer. I like to drive
myself home at the end of the night.
I also don't dig seafood in general. Some sushi is good, but
"sushi" in the category that people who actually eat sushi make fun
of. Seriously, I've seen a tilapia. You can't get me to put that
ugly S.O.B. in my mouth.
