I am nerdy, intellectual, and outgoing.

My Self-Summary

So, I'm a grad student in medieval literature, working on gender in 12-14th century texts. I taught my own class this past academic year, and discovered that I really love teaching. Outside of school/work, I spend lots of time with my considerable group of friends, with whom I watch nerdy but delightful TV (like Doctor Who, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Trek) and movies, go swing dancing, go to the gym, hang out in coffee shops and pubs, run around the museum and wander around Toronto.

What I’m doing with my life

If the gods of academia are REALLY nice to me, someday I'll be a professor.

The first things people usually notice about me

my hair- it's really curly!

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Lord of the Rings, The Curse of Chalion, Firethorn, Laxdaela saga...

Jurassic Park!, Sense and Sensibility, Lord of the Rings (again, I know, what can I say?), Serenity...

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Battlestar Galactica, 30 Rock, The Big Bang Theory, Firefly...

I'm kind of obsessed with Thai red curry right now, but I'm generally up for whatever.

The six things I could never do without

friends, family, internet, gym, good art (tv, books, movies, etc.), my cell phone

I spend a lot of time thinking about

my dissertation (big surprise!); the class I'm teaching; the academic job market; how lucky I am to have the best friends in the whole world; the universe, our place in it, you know, those big, deep questions that are really fun to talk about at 2 am after a few drinks.

On a typical Friday night I am

hanging out with friends

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I read fan fiction.
