I am left handed, out of control, and fearless.
My Self-Summary
I am a native of New York City. I was born and raised in Brooklyn
and still reside in the county of Kings. I know it is hard to
believe but not everyone in NYC is from some other state or some
other country. And I have no plans to move to Florida. Shocker
!
I have
traveled
to many nations around the world....from Colombia to Cambodia, from
Hong Kong to Honduras and many others. I have climbed Mayan and
Inca ruins in Central and
South America as well as Buddhist
and Hindu Temples scattered all over
Asia. I have a thing for ruins and a strong
interest in ancient civilizations. I have swam in a natural pool at
the bottom of the highest waterfall on the planet and shared my
jungle lodge with a tarantula that I named Harry. Most people will
only see Angel Falls in the movie Up and even there its called
Paradise Falls. See the movie sure but if you can, go to Venezuela
and see this amazing waterfall.
I've been lucky enough to swim with a pink dolphin and I have
fished for the notorious piranha. I have been to the largest
structure south of the equator and what is now the third tallest
building on the planet. When I was in it, it was number one. I have
cruised down and actually swam in the Amazon river. And I have
actually met native people or indigenous peoples of at least five
different groups so far.
Ice hockey is
my first love. Let's go FLYERS ! If you don't like hockey, chances
are you just never saw a live match. Unlike other sports, it is
just too fast for television and must be seen in person first to
truly appreciate it or at least understand what it takes. But I am
not one of those people who gets upset when someone or many people
aren't into what I love. Chances are, I have no interest in their
interests too. I am also into
soccer or what most the world calls
football. Go Bayern Munchen ! And in global football, go team
Deutschland ! I can't wait for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
I enjoy baseball too and love my Halos. Why the Angels? Its a long
story but I don't dislike the Mets. As for the Yankees, well I am
from Brooklyn and no one from here should ever support the
Yankees.
I like a wide variety of films but
documentaries and foreign films
are most often what I go for. I read way too much. Travel essays
and international relations are the norm in my book
collection.
I like architecture and art to a somewhat lesser degree. To me the
Chrysler building is one of the prettiest buildings in the world
despite not being nearly as famous as the Empire State building.
Music means a lot to me but I have the patience of a 7 year old and
therefore never learned how to play any instruments.
I love animals and can't imagine why everyone doesn't. Almost all
children like animals but it seems a lot of us grow out of that at
some point. That's too bad, the other creatures of this planet are
fascinating and worthy of their place in this world.
Some of my past work experiences include working at the United
Nations, working for the Red Cross and teaching an English course
while on holiday in South America. I work hard and the hours are
sometimes crazy but I like my current position more days then not
but who knows, that dream job could come my way. Travel writer
perhaps? hehe
I love to laugh. Yet I have never been to a comedy club. But thanks
George Carlin, Lewis Black, John Stewart, Steven Colbert and Bill
Maher.
I like sharp, sarcastic and often political humor. Besides, there
have been more then enough comedians making jokes about race
(insert every black comedian ever) and relationships.
Not into politics though. I've got my interest in international
relations but on the home front, I believe that both the
Republicans and Democrats have failed this country in every decade
since World War II ended and that they will continue to do so. You
won't catch me with an Obama shirt nor any other leader we have had
in my lifetime.
I really enjoy going to concerts. You can often find me at Carnegie
Hall and sometimes at BB Kings if someone I like is performing. I
count myself as very lucky to have seen Pink Floyd at the
Meadowlands in 1988 and at Yankee Stadium in 1994. Unforgettable
performances.
What I’m doing with my life
I do the governments work. My position is very stressful and all
about deadlines. Working overtime is just a normal week for me
(yikes). The pressure is intense and that's another reason that
when I travel, the work phone and laptop are left behind and I run
off into the jungle or up a mountain or under the sea.
Not giving awards on here. It couldn't be more lame.
I’m really good at
Evidently I am good at geography as I scored geography genius on
one of these okcupid tests. Then again, maybe it was just an easy
test.
The first things people usually notice about me
I don't know, its not something I think about. You tell me....
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books:The Ends Of The Earth, The Coming Anarchy, Balkan
Ghosts, Eastward To Tartary, Surrender Or Starve, Soldiers Of God,

You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed With Our Families, Hitching

Witness to Extinction and so many others I can easily fill this box
and have no room for anything else.
Music:Classical. Also Pink Floyd, Robert Johnson, Joe Satriani,

Eric Clapton (just his blues works though), Concrete Blonde, Steve
Vai, Metallica (first 4 albums only), Alice In Chains, BB King,
Stevie Ray Vaughn, Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog, Marty Friedman,
Megadeth, Helloween, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Carlos Santana,
Quicksand, Albert Collins, Paul Gilbert, Eddie Van Halen, Billy
Sheehan and more. No pop, rap, hip hop, dance music or anything
else I find stupid, talentless and shallow.

Born Into Brothels, Maria Full Of Grace, Come See The Paradise, The
Motor Cycle Diaries, Clerks, Sometimes in April, Jaws, Lord of the
Rings I,II,III, The Motorcycle Diaries, Trainspotting, Bowling for

District 9, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Casino Royale,
Quantum of Solace, Bordertown and Senorita Extraviada and Up. Porn?
No, just making sure that your paying attention.
Food:Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Singaporean, Malay,
Vietnam, Colombian, Peruvian, among many others. I am a big fan of
sashimi. Most of all I like to eat fruits and a wide variety of
them. Everything from the average orange to something more exotic
like mangosteen or dragon fruit. I also like seeds, nuts, berries
and certain vegetables. I am basically a rabbit on two feet minus
the cute fluffy tail and big ears. I do have my vices, namely
popcorn and coca cola. Its almost impossible for me to go to a
movie without indulging in them.
TV, well they didn't ask. But here goes...Frontline, Nature, Globe
Trekker, Nova, Man vs Wild, National Geographic Explorer, Deustche
Welle, Real Time, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and when
abroad CNN International. The CNN we get to see here in America
sucks in comparison. When I need a laugh, its the Family Guy, The
Office, Scrubs, Seinfeld and the King of Queens.
The six things I could never do without
Passport, ice Hockey, football (soccer to many), books, music and
fruits.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My next vacation. I have some leave time coming my way this Spring
and its time to start thinking more about my next adventure.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out somewhere, though I like Saturday night out even better since I
am probably spent from working all day Friday. I like going out to
the movies, a nice restaurant, sporting events, museums, concerts
or sometimes just being out with no planned event at all. I love
going out for tea or a starbucks frap when the weather is warm. I
enjoy a beer too, especially if its a German brew. Wine is nice for
me too but I am partial to German wines, specifically the sweet
Rhine wines. I can often be found wandering around Chinatown for
bubble tea, dried mango and many other treats from Asia. There
aren't too many neighborhoods in NYC I haven't explored.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have two stuffed animals. How girlish? Well they are both great
white sharks and yet still very cute. My aunt bought me one but I
have to admit, I bought the other one for myself. I am still a man
damnit !
I have a strong physical attraction to Asian and Latin women. I do
tire of white women (girls when I was younger) giving me crap about
it. Its not like plenty of them don't date black men. In fact many
do or just want to. Plenty won't even date a man who isn't black
and there are also many white women and girls that have white
boyfriends and even husbands, yet see black men on the side. So,
give me a break and besides, I can't help what I am hot for.
You should message me if
You feel like it.
