My self-summary
I am a native of NYC. No, we haven't all moved to Florida. I like to wander, whether its the streets of my city or the jungle. I have hiked up mountain peaks from Venezuela to Vietnam. I've explored ancient temples and pyramids from Bali to Guatemala. I've swam with sharks in the Galapagos Islands, hand fed pink river dolphins in the Brazilian Amazon and had an anaconda slip right through my hands in Bolivia. I have been lucky enough to have traveled to 24 countries so far and I have met 15 different groups of indigenous people throughout the Americas in addition to countless animals. I have no interest in just laying on a beach when I go on vacation.

When not off on some adventure around the globe, I like going to museums, movies, concerts, sporting events, parks, green markets and ethnic restaurants. I have an MA in International Relations and a BA in German History. In the past, I have worked for the United Nations, the Red Cross and even taught some English classes while in South America. I currently work in the field of special investigations and I have been doing it since 2006. Hey, I had to do something since playing hockey professionally or being a real life Indiana Jones wasn't actually going to happen.

I have no interest in the NFL, so you can even write me during the Super Bowl. Now that's a plus in my favor isn't it? hehe
What I’m doing with my life
I work in special investigations.. Long hours, demanding deadlines and plenty of pressure but most days I actually like my job.

Getting ready to go on vacation. Just one more work day to get through and I am out of here and off to Patagonia.
I’m really good at
Making friends with animals, science, geography, reading maps, finding my way, adapting, coping and I can run really fast.
The first things people usually notice about me
I am white. I helped you out with that one. Also, I have big green eyes, I am left handed and a big dog can outweigh me.

The six things I could never do without
Animals, mountains, forests, fruits, my Kindle Fire and a passport. I'd say family first but that should be obvious and also I don't think that is the real intention of this question.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Endangered species, climate change, control of the South China Sea, the Middle East, a possible end in sight for Colombia's war, what life is like on Native American reservations, what the phrase affordable housing actually means in New York City, quitting my job to become a street musician, the answer to why I joined this site, taking a long vacation overseas during every presidential election cycle, the crapfest that is the American media, Zika, Ebola, how diversity in the USA came to mean just including black people and not Latins and Asians among others, my next vacation abroad and someday retiring to a far less violent country.
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably working which happens a lot. I would rather write that I was up to something more exciting but bills don't pay themselves.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can be quite shy at first. And sometimes I take selfies of people taking selfies.
You should message me if
you want to...then sing your song. And it is okay if you write me once or twice and then just disappear. I am used to it.
