My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm Geoff.
I like cats.
I like cars.
And yes, I twitch a bit. No big deal.

I'd like to think I'm logical, brutally honest, and have a good sense of humour. Probably mostly true. Maybe.

I have a pilots license (sadly out of currency - engineering is a harsh mistress)

I'm double plus ungood at sleeping. Seriously, I'm always postponing my next bout of unconsciousness because something more interesting came up. As a result, I'm pretty talented at functioning with less than 3 hours sleep last night, or five nights in a row.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a Vancouver Island boy transplanted onto the Prairies. Looking to meet new people in this new city I find myself in.

Newly minted Mechanical Engineer; just got a job in Calgary (started January 2015)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Turns out I'm kinda good at TSD Rally navigating. Good as in won the 2014 Novice Class Championship of the WCRA and placed first in Novice class of every rally I entered this year.
So yea, I'm proud of that; ain't every day that you get to be a champion of something :-p
The first things people usually notice about me

Open facial expressions. Maybe a twitch if I'm sleep deprived. I'm often sleep deprived.

Do people actually bother reading these massive lists? Do they really tell you bugger all about someone? I recommend you just skip the whole lot of these blue-tagged eye-glazers; we are not so defined by the media we consume.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A Purpose.

If I lose these, put me out of my misery with an anvil or piano from sufficient height. Other things, I can do without, albeit less pleasantly.

A sturdy multitool.
Manual Transmissions.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.

I marvel at the sheer scale of modern cities; thousands of strangers living completely separate lives bouncing into each other without so much as a second glance. Sardines in cans of concrete and iron.

Massive machines of metal and oil that move us at speeds many magnitudes more than our malleable mortal forms were ever meant to go. Every day we commute distances that our ancestors wouldn't travel in their entire lifetimes. Yet we expect these incomprehensibly complicated contraptions that convey us to continue perfectly every time, on time. And they usually do. We buy and sell them for prices that could provide food to an entire Bangladeshi village for a month.

Continent spanning networks of transmission lines, underwater cables stretching across entire oceans, radio waves and microwaves emitted and received in every pocket; billions upon billions of dollars and entire adult lives devoted to maintaining our ability to send a message across the globe in a split second when those same words would have taken months in our grandparents time. All so that under appreciative pricks like ourselves can send meaningless shit like "sup babe wanna hook up" to girls we've never even seen with our own eyes.

We all experience our own unique slice of this world; but that isn't good enough for me. I want to know more, to understand further, to delve into someone apart from myself. The truest cure for arrogance is to face the infinite breadth of that which you do not understand; that which you have yet to achieve. Through that complexity, I cling to humility.

I also think about cute cats, pretty girls, fast cars and sex. They're nice too.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Covered in grime and motor oil under an old car, schmoozing with friends, exploring the nooks and crannies of a city, maybe seeing you.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't have a spleen, just a badass scar around where it used to be.
