I am jovial, friendly, and inquisitive.
My Self-Summary
Hello there,
You wouldn't happen to like three month hikes, triathlon training,
and spending all your time in the great outdoors?
Me neither... but if you said yes, you might be interested in my
friend
hikerTriGuy. On the other hand if you
enjoy leisure bike rides, good books and asking questions, then
keep reading.
I enjoy
soccer and
skating, prefer
small groups of people, practice
sleight of hand, devour
science
fiction, and have a slight mischievous streak just to keep
things interesting.
A guy named John Postel once wrote "Be conservative in what you do,
be liberal in what you accept from others." He was talking about
machine communication, but I think it's a good principle for life
as well. It introduces questions that are worth talking about.
What I’m doing with my life
These days, working as an engineer and taking courses keeps me
pretty busy. Outside of that I read a lot, skate in winter months
and ride my bike during the summer. Every now and then I go into
Boston to visit friends. Recently I've been learning a new
language.
I've held a few jobs in my past, and I most enjoyed being an
instructor at a summer camp. Of course it was a little weird when
one of the parents became my boss one year...
Future plans: create a startup, solve people's problems, and
eventually teach the next generation. Maybe I'll even get a PhD
sometime.
I’m really good at
Apparently keeping a girl on her toes. I always say I'll run out of
surprises, but it never happens.
The first things people usually notice about me
My ear-splitting grin, my sense of humor, or my hearing aids. It's
a toss-up of a three sided coin.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: - Ender's Game, Ringworld, RAMA, The Moon is a Harsh
Mistress, The Mote in God's Eye, Stranger in a Strange Land, Neal
Stephenson's stuff
Movies: - The Fellowship of the Ring, Fight Club, Batman Begins,
Equilibrium, Matrix I, V for Vendetta
Foods: - Chocolate

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Sometimes you'll see a big grin pop up on my face for absolutely no
reason. I'm probably thinking of an off-color joke.
In my head is a large list of cool ideas I want to see done. Every
so random often I concentrate on one such as using math (Bayes'
theorem for the curious) to identify authors by their writing.
On a typical Friday night I am
... in midair catching a whirling, glowing plastic disk flying
across Boston Commons. Or in the middle of an informal gathering,
watching a flurry of hands exchanging conversation while I practice
and attempt to follow along. Or out to a local coffeehouse for a
quick bite to eat before a quiet evening watching TV, laptop at
hand, chatting with my friends over the internet.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I breathe air.
"That's not very private at all!"
Oh, you noticed?
Actually, my most embarrassing moment at college makes for a good
story... ask me about it.
You should message me if
In friends, I look for people with a passion. Something they really
enjoy, like food, science, or education.
In relationships I'm looking for someone who I can eat with, watch
a movie, talk about life, and on occasion enjoy outdoor activities
like skating, skiing or bike riding.
I value a healthy sense of curiosity more than I value knowing the
answers.
