My self-summary
My name is Tyler and I'm sincerely sarcastic and sarcastically sincere. To steal a quote from Anthony Bourdain, "I'm a survivor and a cynic, and like all cynics, a failed romantic." Try as I may to keep up the cynical half of the "cynical, hopeless romantic" thing, I find myself far too quick to revert to the hopeless romantic side of things when I meet a girl who strikes my fancy. I know we're all unique individuals but I have to believe I'm as rare a type as you're ever likely to find. My personality type makes up about 1% of the population (INTJ), I'm part of the 2% who have green eyes, and one of the 10% who are left-handed. If someone smarter than me wants to figure out the probability of all those things converging in one unique package, please let me know so I can appear smarter than I actually am. Instead of boring you with fun facts about my life and personality I'm going to leave you with a few quotes that sum me up fairly well. Enjoy!

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention to arrive safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: 'Wow!! What a ride!'"

"Keep close to nature's heart...and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean."-John Muir

"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."-Dr. Seuss

"The most dangerous risk of all--the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later."

"I have this disease late at night involving alcohol and the telephone."-Kurt Vonnegut

"Let people feel the weight of who you are and let them deal with it."-Brent Curtis

"There comes a time when you have to leave all that is familiar, and go on into the unknown with God."-John Eldredge

"I am so busy doing nothing...that the idea of doing anything - which, as you know, always leads to something - cuts into the nothing and then forces me to have to drop everything."-Jerry Seinfeld
What I’m doing with my life
Embracing the wanderlust. After nearly a year in North Carolina, I'm back in my beloved Atlanta killing time at a not-so-glamorous job before going back out West to work in Yellowstone National Park for the summer. Also, reading. I read 52 books in 2012 including 20 in the month of December. I'll be more strategic with my reading days in 2013.
I’m really good at
Accumulating useless facts for random trivia. For instance, did you know that in the most lopsided college football game ever played (Georgia Tech vs Cumberland College...good guys won 222-0) there was not a single first down? I also like to think I'm good at being an uncle and a friend.
The first things people usually notice about me
My gorgeous green eyes or, if you too are left-handed, the fact that I'm left-handed but, since less than 10% of the population is a South Paw like me, the smart money is on the eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Until I actually fill this out for real, I'll give you one of each...

Books: anything by Bill Bryson, Slaughterhouse-Five, The Great Gatsby, Through Painted Deserts, Wild at Heart, Parade (a book by a dear friend), Freakonomics, The FairTax Book, Somebody's Gotta Say It

Movies: Casablanca, LOTR, boring Brad Pitt character dramas set in the west or in Tibet, pretty much anything else with Brad Pitt, early M. Night Shyamalan movies, Tarantino stuff...especially Inglorious Basterds, David Fincher movies, 500 Days of Summer

Tele: Breaking Bad, Dexter, LOST, The Office, Arrested Development, Seinfeld, Scrubs, South Park

Music: John Mayer, Evan McHugh, David Ryan Harris, The Beatles, Billy Joel, Avett Brothers, Mumford & Sons, Taylor Swift (yes, I'm serious...I love that girl), Coldplay, REM, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Debussy

Food: Fox Brother's BBQ, Park Tavern, Chipotle, Original Pancake House, The Varsity and oh so many more places in and around Atlanta
The six things I could never do without
1. My eyes so I can enjoy creation
2. My car so I can explore
3. My iPhone cause I'm dependent on technology
4. Sarcasm/humor
5. My mind and the people who challenge it
6. there is no six
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Wanderlust...where my next adventure will take me.

Also, how someone can list their religion as Agnosticism and then add "and somewhat serious about it". Isn't the whole point of your belief system based on indecision? I'm not judging you if you're agnostic, just be consistent with your convictions is all...
On a typical Friday night I am
sitting home alone laying flat on my floor looking back on old love, or lack thereof

That's an adaptation of a John Mayer song, bee tee dubs. I'm usually grabbing dinner and drinks with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't know how to ride a bike
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 18–33
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners, long-distance penpals
