I am witty, geeky, and atypical.

My Self-Summary

I'm just here for the women. No, wait, I mean the quizzes. Yeah, the quizzes. No, I was right the first time.

Old content:
"""
I'm a geek. At least I'm somewhere in the geek spectrum. I work with computers, but I'm not a huge gamer. Also, I shower daily. So, there you have it. A geek: showered for your pleasure.
"""

What I’m doing with my life

I work for Google doing sysadmin type stuff. Unfortunately, I don't work on anything directly see so there's not much to say. If you're technically inclined, I can explain it, but it's not that exciting.

I'd like to be doing more outside of work which is why I'm here.

I’m really good at

I seem to be good at making people laugh. I hesitated to write that because you might look at this profile and think I'm making that up. It's just hard to be funny on demand.

The first things people usually notice about me

Whatever it is, it's usually the wrong thing. I've had several people tell me their first impressions of me were wrong. I'm not sure what that says about me.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I really need to get back into a habit of leisure reading. I tend to only read when I'm traveling. That used to mean my commute, but I haven't mastered reading and driving yet. I just finished Snow Crash after a year of flights.

I think I go out to see movies far less than the average American. So far there have been several movies I probably should have seen if I wanted to maintain my geek status, but I haven't bothered to see them. I also have this odd habit (addiction?) of buying DVDs, but not watching them. At least not right away. I can probably check my shelf right now and find 6 movies I've never seen, and they're still in shrink wrap. Movies that I see are most likely science fiction or comedy. Least likely would be horror.
I'm going to list Zack and Miri Make A Porno explicitly as a favorite because I was an extra in it.

I tend to pick a radio station and stick with it until it changes formats or I cross the country. Right now, it's Live 105. However, I stopped listening to the radio when I bought a car with a CD player. I listen to They Might Be Giants, Weird Al, Warp 11, The Arrogant Worms, Paul and Storm, Jonathan Coulton, and probably someone else important that I can't think of right now.

I'm one the pickiest eaters that you'll meet. I've been working on writing down the list of foods I don't like. Someday I'll make it publically available.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I think about the turf war and struggle for dominance that's happening in my sock drawer. Most of my socks are from a brand that puts their name on the toe of their socks. However, they seem to use two different colors, Black and Red. Just when I've weeded out all the worn out socks of a given color, putting the remaining color into power, I somehow end up getting more sock of the minority color. Slowly these usurpers become the dominate breed and the cycle starts over.

On a typical Friday night I am

Playing Wii or some form of board game with coworkers. Then we get dinner somewhere. Sometimes the Wii-playing continues into the early morning.

(We recently lost a Wii-er. He moved far far away. We're looking for a replacement.)

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I think it's dating site cliche to say I'm willing to admit anything, but it's true. I just don't know how to write something here without being prompted for something specific. I don't really have anything to hide, expect where required by law. If you ask me a direct question, I'll answer it honestly.

You should message me if

You should message me if you like things, and stuff.

You want to see my small robot army. I have pictures now.

If you're shy like me and don't want to make the first move, use the wink/woo feature and I'll write first.

If you want to follow me around and document me in my natural habitat à la Jane Goodall. I want dual authorship on any journal papers that result, and the right to use excerpts for this profile.

If you're not interested, feel free to mail and tell me why. I'm curious.

okcupid said this after I sent mail:
Edit your profile so is more likely to reply

Consider my profile edited, but I don't see how it will make a difference.
