My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I try not to take things (including myself) too seriously. I'm a pretty eccentric person in a lot of ways, and I really enjoy getting to know other unique, quirky and interesting people.

I like to do sports/physical activities that involve moving/using my body in artistic ways. I've been doing yoga for the past few years. For the past year or so I've gotten really into aerial acrobatics (rope and silks) and pole (which despite the reputation, I find much more athletic than strippery, though it does involve booty shorts (although not in this particular video)).

I really like playing music, but the band has been on hiatus for a while ever since the drummer knocked up our bass player (you all know how that goes...) I'm by no means an awesome musician, but it's something I really enjoy doing a lot. I play guitar and sing, so if anyone out there wants to get together to jam, let me know! (I also love karaoke).

I'm a pretty frequent traveler. I have too many friends who live in too many places. It's great to always have a place to stay, but it also means I'm always on the road (or in the air) trying to catch up with people I care about. It would be cool to meet a travel buddy to share my adventures with.

I find gender roles and gender expectations really frustrating. I try not to let them hold me back from doing things I love doing (e.g. pole dancing, costumes) I am a feminist, and I think it really sucks that the world is set up in such a way that women can be treated so poorly and so many people will just look the other way.

I've recently quit drinking. I have in the past been a fairly heavy drinker, but I didn't like how it had become a crutch to deal with anxiety, and how it had turned into my default social activity. I'm fine being around others who want to drink, and I wouldn't say I'll definitely never drink another drink again, but for now I'm really happy with the changes I see in my physical and psychological health.

I'm perfectly happy being single and I'm not looking to jump into a relationship right off the bat, but I am looking for a connection that that has the potential to turn into something more.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
My passion is aerial acrobatics and pole. My day job is working on machine translation software.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
pole dancing, relaxing, thumb wars (I don't think I've ever lost a match (I will fight dirty and cheat if necessary to win or force a draw)), back rubs, learning foreign languages, making soup, math, thinking of horrible practical jokes that are actually too horrible to ever carry out.
The first things people usually notice about me

That I look like somebody else they know.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Music: Of Montreal, Little Dragon, Elliot Smith, Radiohead, Gorillaz, Belle and Sebastian, Zeppelin, Kings of Convenience, Amy Winehouse, Melody Gardot.

Food: Korean, Dumplings, Middle Eastern (Hummus, Kebab, etc), Peking Duck, Sichuan style dishes (Ma Po Tofu, Yu Xiang eggplant, etc), stewy soupy stuff, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Ethiopian.

Lately though, I've been on kind of a health kick. I'm trying to eat only real food that don't come from a box and not much refined sugar/carbs. I'm not vegetarian, but I've been eating vegetarian more often lately, mostly because I think it's healthier.

Movies: Being John Malkovich, Wayne's World, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Ratatouille, Princess Mononoke, Fight Club, The Matrix (only the first one).

TV: The Wire, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, The Daily Show, Elementary, Dexter, BSG, Star Trek TNG (Patrick Stewart is so dreamy),True Detective, Fringe. I love sci-fi, especially of the futuristic / space-exploring variety. I don't really watch TV that often, but I do binge sometimes if I find a show I like.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

I look ridiculously hot in a dress (2nd place in my undergrad drag show, though sadly I can't find any hard evidence of this :/)

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
I find girls who are smart, and crazy (the fun kind of crazy) and not afraid of making a fool of themselves particularly irresistible. I also really admire people who are really good at an artistic skill. I'm also quite physically active (when I'm not a cripple, recovering from a broken foot a few months ago), and enjoy having friends/partners who I can do athletic activities with. But in general, just message me if you think we'd get along.

I don't really enjoy trying to get to know people through endless exchanges of online messages. I feel like people's personalities come through much better in person. Also, I find a lot of people are very flaky/make plans and don't follow through, so it's not worth the energy investment for me to try to come up with long witty messages unless I know someone is interested in having a connection in real life.
