Happily, I grew up in a family of intelligent well educated independent women. I'm attracted to - and comfortable with - that sort and like women generally. NO issues w/women. I enjoy and place great value in intimacy - the enabling factor in all things, friendship, relationships, and great sex! I value intelligence and compatible, adventurous sexuality in any relationship, so 'friends first' the dating site mantra - is a given for me! Any lover would have to be a friend, but not all any or all friends would - or could be - a lover!
What am I looking for? I want something that works for us both! I am open to pretty much any permutation of relationship, up to and including marriage. I would even entertain children/family w/the partner (YESS, even at my age! crazy, huh?). If you have children, I'm totally Ok knowing that I'll never be placed ahead of them by any mother I would want anything to do with! Not a problem! I'd think you're a nut - and run - if it were otherwise!
I am looking for real intimacy, and would follow any relationship that works to its logical outcome. I welcome intimacy, have no fear of committing to something which represents real quality... Preferably, it wouldn't/couldn't be heavy/dramatic..., but it would have to be based upon a good mutual connection - in any case!
I like that I have been told that I am a refreshing blend of masculine and feminine, a macho mensch if you will. I am heterosexual, but you needn't be. I am very open-minded and non-judgmental. While I'm very much an anything goes kind a man, I'm not an anyone goes sort at all!! I'm more often than I like, presumed to be promiscuous which is rather laughable, given that I'm now approaching - w/ NO small amount of discontent yet another year of celibacy. I'm adventurous sexually, but, am not a "swinger" or into sex w/a partner I do not have a good connection with.

Right now, trying to keep my head above the financial mess which has hit my business in leasing, renovating and selling houses, head on.
I realized awhile back that - I'll never be as lonely living alone - with NO ONE - as I would be lonely were I living with the WRONG one! There is no honesty or fairness - to anyone - to 'settle' just for the sake of being in a relationship.

my verrrry/unusually blue eyes (they have always told me), my distinctive wit/sense of humor, that I really do NOT look my age, that I usually seem to have a different 'take' on most issues... that I'm not like 'most guys'... (which I like - a lot!) That I can usually see more than 1 side to pretty much anything....

One of the things about me that those who know me well have always remarked upon is my extremely eclectic tastes in the arts and cuisine.
My favorite seasoning, Thai Basil... I do not enjoy or eat 'fast food' - RARELY drink soft drinks, 'soda', 'pop', etc., very seldom eat red meat, eat a lot of fish, love fresh seafood of pretty much all varieties!! LOVE a nice beer, fond of good hearty red wines, esp N. Italian, Bordeaux, Burgundies - prefer my white wine dry..., adore great single malt Scotch, though not so keen on the 'peaty' types.
Love a wide range of music, R&B, early R&R/doo-wop, Big band, Latin, Opera, though mostly the Italian and Mozart (ANYthing Mozart - of course!) Afro-pop/worldbeat, folk music, jazz, C&W - though more the older stuff, modern/contemp "country", less so.
Warning! In general I'm a disappointment to those who prize someone up to date on/fascinated with, pop culture - I paid minimal attention to what was current in my years growing up, but I seem to retain a lot of trivia/obscuria... I've always liked what I liked. Often it has been popular - often - not so much!
I mostly listen to NPR, view PBS. In general, I'm left-political, but w/my own slant on policy issues. I really am disgusted by the sleazy, mindless political partisanship we are struggling under at present!

People..., why we do/act/think as we do, the endless variety - which fascinates me as much as the commonalities which seem counter to all the differences/variations!
OKC, ...why I still do not have a clue what the 'personality' contrasts/matrix really means (if anything!) and how interesting it is that when I set my search criteria as widely and NON-specific as possible - e.g., on " 'Match', "girls", age 27-106, anywhere " - that it seems that most often, approximately half are bi-sexual or gay. I quite like that actually, as I think it says a lot about what kind of man I am... I have NOT compared notes w/other men on here, but I think it might be unusual. Nevertheless, I like it, and, upon thinking about it, realized that it is likely related to the fact that I have all-ways felt most at ease with strong women, with women who are - as am I, comfortable w/their sexuality, and also w/women who appreciate a man who understands, appreciates, accepts and shares their interest in/appreciation for women and, that that is nothing to consider as a threat to a great connection!!
The 'straight' women who are secure enough to understand, appreciate this about me as an advantage, have always been a good match as well. Age is not a criterion upon which I place any value good or bad. Older which is not youthful is no more of interest to me than young and immature! Older and youthful, younger with an 'old soul' and all in between... Intelligence (the largest component of great chemistry - I love great chemistry!) is the greatest single factor on my screen!
I spend a lot of time thinking about the role the Capitalists have to play in solving the economic mess they (largely) got us into - and WHY they do NOT seem to see themselves as having any role to play - aside from condemning Obama as a "Socialist"!! Which - as any real Socialist will tell you - is laughable!
I often work alone and therefore have a lot of time to think, about a LOT of stuff... the unexamined life is not worth living - was/is that it?

usually watching the political/documentaries, etc., on PBS, although I'd love to have a 'fetchin' Gretchin' to go out and tango or salsa with! I'm not much up for the bar scene lately..., and not ever really into the 'fine dining' routine...

I miss not having someone special, and special to me - in my life in the depth of intimacy I'd really like..., but, don't we all in our own way, and oughtn't we? Just looking for it can be fun! I've met some very interesting, fun people (mostly) on line...

You are intelligent. The more so the better! Education is an attractive bonus - but not the same thing! If you're not well-educated, please remember that the best that college can do is cure ignorance - it cannot create intelligence!
You are fit or at least in reasonable condition. I take care of my health and body, I'd prefer that you do as well! You have no drug or alchohol addictions. I am open to different lifestyle and political views, orientations, and prefer those who are as well... I am quite comfortable in my sexuality and would prefer someone who is or is at least wanting to become more so.
You/we enjoy a wide variety of things/activites, skiing, hiking, beachtime (I have a house at the beach 100 miles east of NYC) We have eclectic/complementary tastes in music, art, food and wine, etc. I/we enjoy dancing, prefer cooking a meal at home for friends over high end restuarants, travel - have a valid passport. I enjoy organic veg gardening, you too? I own my own bizz renovating, building, leasing residential real estate.
