My Self-Summary
I am the household manager and live-in disability caretaker for my 5 person poly household. I live with my husband and my wife, my wife's mother, and my husband's girlfriend. It's a full time job, just not one that currently pays.
I have been committed to my wife and a husband since 1994 or so. I have had several girlfriends and a couple of boyfriends in this time. At the moment, I'm not looking for a new partner. More a friend to add to my circle, with whom a bit of shared passion would be a good thing.
I have a lot going on in my life, and I'm not terribly comfortable with relationships that are held apart from the rest of my life. If you want to be my friend (or more), it means joining me in the things I am already doing, at least part of the time.
For me, part of becoming friends (and lovers) means a certain blending of lives. Meeting and spending time with each others' families and close friends, for example. You don't have to date my partners to date me, but being comfortable hanging out with them from time to time is one of the make-or-break points.
I have a son, who lives most of the year with his biological mother in Iowa. I never thought I would be a good parent, but he disagrees with me on this point. When he is with me in California, just about everything else takes second place. The 10 weeks of the year he is here, if you want to spend time with me, it will likely mean spending time with my son and family.
What I’m doing with my life
Other than that, I am the house-husband for my family, a gamer (table-top role playing, mostly), writing (short stories and fan fiction), and studying Feri witchcraft.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I am currently reading Cathrynne Valente's "Palimpsest," which is a beautiful dream-poem of a novel. I am also reading Brendan Cathbad Meyers' "The Other Side of Virtue," an examination of ancient pagan morals and virtues, looking for ways those ideas might be applied to today's world.
I am waiting, as patiently as possible, for George R. R. Martin's next "Song of Ice and Fire" novel. Also of interest are Charles de Lint, Tim Powers, Neil Gaiman, Caitlin Kiernan, and Clive Barker I also rather like the works of Lois McMaster Bujold, though I think she's fallen off of late.
When heading out to the cinemas, I usually go for fantastic genre films: science fiction, fantasy, horror, and super-hero movies. I also rather enjoy political and historical documentary work, but less for the big-screen viewing and more for watching on DVD and discussing with friends. My tastes run on paralell tracks. On the one hand, I like the psychological and the surreal. On the other, it's always fun to watch things explode. My most recent odd film was Jan Svankmajer's "Alice," a surrealist interpretation of "Alice in Wonderland."
"Fight Club" was fun, the sort of thing that would be great to do if I didn't care who I hurt. The original "Matrix" was also fun, but I prefer to use the sequels for critical target practice. "V for Vendetta" was a great movie, even if it was not a good adaptation of the graphic novel. Other movies I've particularly liked include "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," though most of Tim Burton's work is good for me. "Sin City" was quite tasty. I'm fond of horror movies, and am especially impressed with the recent translations of Japanese horror film into American. Oh, and anything with zombies.
Most of my music collection contains 60's/70's classic rock (The Beatles, The Doors), 70's/80's glam (think Queen and David Bowie) and New Wave and others (The Police, The Boomtown Rats, Jethro Tull) 80's/90's alternative fading over into the goth (Dead Can Dance, NIN, Enigma), and an eclectic assortment of things my more musically inclined friends have introduced me to.
For food, well, I like to eat. No, let me be more explicit. I savor the sensual delight that is eating. The look, the smell, the texture... and the taste. Indian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Latin, Thai, Chinese... and the good old American grill.
And I love figuring out how to cook what I love to eat. Cooking is a moving meditation, a communion with life and the process of change.
