My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hello. Taking a moment to reflect on how one goes about meeting friends and maybe a loving person/husband on a dating website.

First let me say that I am looking for a man who is the monogamous type. He (you) is not in an intimate relationship (of any kind) with anyone else now. And if we connect, this man will want to and be able to stay monogamous in our life together.

It seems to me that the culture of dating has changed significantly with the ease of keeping many people interested. The Internet has created this sense of "let's go shopping." So we never get the chance to slowly work on a relationship.

In my life, relationships have developed over time from friendships. There is nothing sexier to me than trusting someone. And learning how to think as a couple while maintaining independence from each other. That said, I have been "swept away" for months at a time with someone after feeling that instant click. It's a hard call.

I'm a college professor teaching digital media to mostly graduate students. I've written a few books on this subject, of interest to academics for the most part.

I balance my life with friends, lots of cultural and outdoor activities, and time to think while walking. I love Manhattan most of the time. I'm a Canadian Jewish woman who also appreciates nature-- mountains, forests, ocean, and wilderness-- as well as serious and fun cultural events with friends. A lot of my friends are artists who balance my career. I love to paint and am a pretty good videographer, editor, and designer. I also love to dance jazz, zumba, whatever I can! I think more clearly after a hike or a yoga class which I adore beyond words. I feel all smooth and fresh, calm and happy.

Fantasies? Maybe two homes-- one in southern Europe. One close to the coastline in Canada or the US. And NYC to play in, regularly! A partner who loves to travel and live in different countries to experience the place fully. Someone with a joie de vivre and patience for the difficult situations that come along. Warm, gentle and strong, FUNNY at times, and who appreciates every day as a gift. Or, should I say, who makes every day a gift!

That's it for now. If you are interested in these kinds of things and love animals, yes, cats too, then let me know!

And please remember, I don't respond to anyone who is not able to live a happy life with one person.

Bye for now!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
friendships. designing. writing. videography. observing people. creating fun times to share.
The first things people usually notice about me

My energy when I walk into a room.
My hair and unique lime green glasses.
The way I attend to people when they talk.
My style of dressing--casual, professional, elegant, or for sports.

My tastes are pretty eclectic. Right now reading about neurons and thinking. A book by a Zen master called The Joy of Living, for example. I deeply enjoy personal narratives. Movies. Almadovar is a favorite. Went to Relatively Speaking, a play by Elaine May, Woody Allen, and one of the Cohn brothers. Music--organizing it more than listening :( Food...healthy, fresh, green, organic, some French, some Italian, some Indian. Open to most, especially with new ingredients that are delicious and good for the body. Oh, I adore chocolate, of course. And wish I could eat cookies more. Yes, a sweet tooth.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-affection kindness respect interdependence
-walking, hiking, cycling in beautiful places
-dinner parties with friends
-warm sunny days
-media of all forms: books, music, DV
-romance with intelligence and humor!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Balancing work, friends, family, and what's going on in the world today
On a typical Friday night I am

at synagogue in the Upper West Side. Very liberal, but spiritually invigorating. Or, I just unwind from the week and come home.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I guess I can "admit" that while I am liberal in my thinking, I am looking for someone who also loves ritual and some tradition. Not right-wing tradition, but traditions that can be made together. Maybe that's not so private!
