I am quiet, analytical, and intuitive.

My Self-Summary

College educated, stable, quiet, looking to get out and meet people. I was an excellent cook, though I'm out of practice. I work in IT. My personal interests are broader than that. I've done some photography, some digital fractal art, and some digital collage. I read regularly (fiction and non-fiction), and I have a few PS2 games I enjoy (Persona). Most of the TV I watch is online, and that's mainly "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report". Beyond that I have no plans to get cable or one of those digital tuner adapters. I go through a few sources of political and tech news daily, so I try to stay reasonably informed. For those who know the Myers-Briggs types, my normal type is INFP, and my reactionary type is INTP.

At the moment, I'm mainly looking for friends and acquaintances. I've been presented with the opportunity to re-examine my life, and there are some things I need to work on. I'm just being honest with that.

What I’m doing with my life

Work. Work work work....

Work has inadvertently become a central focus of my life. I'm working to change that for the better. I'm still pondering what I would like to study for a master's degree, as well as cultivate other interests. I'm starting to miss linguistics, and I know I should start studying Japanese again before it atrophies further.

While I work with computers, I try to not be a computer geek. I think how the operating system works is interesting, but it's the same kind of interest that makes me find structural linguistics fascinating. (I read a book on Arabic grammar for fun once.) I'm slowly learning Linux. Back in the early 90's, the first computer system I used was a Sun workstation, so I'm trying to regain and hold some of my UNIX knowledge.

I also like my computer because of my interests in photography and digital art.

I’m really good at

Hm... Cooking, but I'm out of practice. I work in IT, so I can fix a computer, but that's a job and not a hobby. I've been told my photography and fractal art are quite good. (I have some online.) As a child I had a green thumb, and I would love space to garden again.

The first things people usually notice about me

Don't know. I've been told that I'm too quiet and that I'm too intense. I listen well, and encourage others to talk. I tend to speak my mind, which can surprise people. (Think astrology: Scoripo rising. Yep.) I've also been told I have a soothing demeanor and enduring patience, which I take as a compliment.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I have no idea how to break that one down. There are some books I like on linguistics, which is a bit of a hobby of mine. I find the "Tao Te Ching" very inspirational. Without wanting to sound trite, I found the Harry Potter series quite entertaining. I also enjoyed "World War Z". Barlowe's book "God's Demon" is amazing, as is his art. I know it will probably be a few more years, but I'm looking forward to the next two books in Barlowe's trilogy.

Movies: "American Beauty" : I've watched this 7 or 8 times now. "Pleasantville" : About 6 or 7 times. This is my reality check movie. "It's not supposed to be anything...". "The Fountain" : Beautiful. "What Dreams May Come" : I've always loved the story of Orpheus. This movie, besides being beautiful, can make me cry every time. "V for Vendetta" : I actually really liked the political commentary in this movie. "Solaris" : While I was hoping the movie would be more true to the book, this ended up being one of the few love stories I can watch over and over. "The Dark Crystal" : When single shines the triple sun, what was sundered and undone... Yeah, I've loved this since childhood. As a child, I wanted to be a special effects designer *so* badly after watching this. "The Pillow Book" : Dark, slightly erotic, and very, very beautiful.

Music: Peter Gabriel, Enigma, Deep Forest, as well as Linkin Park, Sarah McLachlan, and Evanescence.

Food: I like most Asian cuisine. I usually gravitate to Vietnamese and Thai restaurants. I also like Caribbean, Indian, and Ethiopian food. お寿司が好きだ、お箸で食べたら出来ます。 I like tofu, and my cooking is vegetarian friendly, though I am a carnivore. I like hot and spicy food, and garlic is my friend.

The six things I could never do without

Besides the basics? My health. Beyond that, I guess it all becomes mutable with the situation.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Just about anything. Seriously, I get lost in reveries pretty easily.

On a typical Friday night I am

Unwinding from a week of work. Laundry. Working on a piece of fractal art.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

As a Wiccan, I'm fairly used to being around people who are blunt and direct. While I'll usually answer any question put to me, I also have the sense to not blurt things out on a public forum.

As I said, I'm a Wiccan (over 15 years), but I'm a *sane* Wiccan. I'm not a "fluffy bunny" Wiccan, a "Let's p|ss off the parents" Wiccan, or "Potter-wannabe" Wiccan. Not to be anticlimactic, but it's just a religion.

You should message me if

You choose to. You feel like a conversation. You would like to meet someone new. You understand the phrase, "Pardonemo estas kiel la parfomo de la violo, tiel alkroĉiĝas al la kalkano ke pistas ĝin."
