My self-summary
Teller of tales. Singer of songs. Dancer of dances. Mischief maker. Plot hatcher. Kisser of- um- kissers? Aficionado of most things Bacchanalian, and purveyor of more than a few. I don't need more reasons to breathe; I need more reasons to scream- at the top of my lungs.
I am the author of a series of books of, what I like to call, "bubblegum-horror." I'm also in the middle of going to grad school to be a librarian. I love movies, music, travelling, dining, and just getting out and doing stuff as often as possible. In between all of my various endeavors to discover all that is naughty/excellent in this burg, I work out. A sharp mind requires a sharp body.
What I’m doing with my life
Getting to the front row at shows. Staying up too late. Going too hard. Planning my next nefarious endeavor before I'm halfway through this one. Creating imaginary worlds and characters, blowing them up, and killing them off. Going to graduate school in case I somehow do not create the next great literary sensation.
I’m really good at
Misbehaving, high fiving, functioning on no sleep, getting other people to misbehave, cartwheels, busting chops, calling it like I see it, drinking more than I ought but seeming like I drank less, making s'mores, making friends, making those friends laugh, and being loyal to a fault.
The first things people usually notice about me
My dimples. My abs, depending on my level of shirtedness. My smart mouth, don't give a fuck attitude, and my just general outgoing, friend making state of being.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Can we not talk about TV? Nothing is more tedious than sitting around talking about what people watch; let's not revel in our couch potato shame together. I'm not on here to validate/adopt anybody's idiot box consumption habits, and if that's the most we can relate on, that's super weak. K? K.
I'm a voracious reader. Recently I'm in love with John Green, having just finished "the Fault in Our Stars" which is magnificent. There aren't many kinds of book I dislike, though. I'm a snobby cinephile, only the most critical darlings even get my attention. The marvelous "Blue is the Warmest Color" is currently near and dear, but I did also have to rush right out and watch Katniss get her Quarter Quell on. I listen to everything from the Neutral Milk Hotel, Grouplove, Jack White, Damon Albarn, Andrew Byrd, the Flaming Lips, the Preatures, the list is endless. Loving Future Islands right now. I like dining on everything from Italian, to Ethiopian, to Persian; I'm not veg but I was, and I'm still not super carnivorous.
The six things I could never do without
A keyboard. Caffeine. Good whiskey. Parties. Tacos. Stimulating conversation.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Trouble to get into. Tacos.
On a typical Friday night I am
Finding some rowdy shenanigan or other to get popping off; a show, a club, a party, a festival, doesn't matter, it just should probably not involve sitting around.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
The "open relationship" disclaimer makes me look like a slut. I'm a little more complex than that. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy physical intimacy, but I'm a softie, just a super sucker for the big, romantic feels. Also, I hate wearing clothes, or shoes; I'd run around naked all the time if I could. Oh, and I have a crush on Sarah Vowell. Oh, oh, and those pill packages with the foil backs, you know where you peel the corner back? I can't do those.
