My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
A New England native and public policy practitioner with hard science envy. Short-term skeptic but long-term optimist. Looks for the humor that lurks beneath everything. Pale. Adventurous enough to zip around Africa on tiny planes and helicopters with military dudes, but equally happy with a book-filled quiet weekend. Good listener.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Spending a year in job that is awesome but also almost all-encompassing. Trying to decide if the next step is going to be a little change or a big change.

Outside of work I'm always looking to learn and try new things. Recently this has meant taking a couple trips to learn surfing, and while I've spent more time tumbling along the bottom of the ocean than standing on a surfboard it's been a ton of fun.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Reading people, being decisive, listening, intermingling with diverse crowds. Knowing when to be hyper-rational and when to follow my gut.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Lolita, Tale of Two Cities, Heart of Darkness, Blood Meridian, Darkness at Noon (perhaps I need to lighten up a bit), Liar's Poker.

Movies: Rushmore, Almost Famous, Lost in Translation, Annie Hall, Before Sunset, In The Loop, Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Music: Lately I've been on a 90s hip hop kick - think Nas, Black Star, and Common. Recent shows included How to Dress Well and Gaslight Anthem.

Food: Almost everything. Asparagus remains my one nemesis food.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I've tested this a bit in the last couple of years by living in very spartan places, but I won't cop out completely. My six almost-definitely-need-to-have-things are:

- Exercise
- Sleep
- Self-reflection
- The internet
- Spicy food
- Something to laugh about
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Technology in the developing world, cognitive biases, bourbon. Why frequent flyer programs are so complicated.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't want you to be really into baking.

I was more excited about Before Midnight than the new Arrested Development episodes.

Update: Still haven't seen Before Midnight and haven't watched all the Arrested Development episodes. Guess I wasn't that excited about either!

You have both high- and low-brow sensibilities. You can provide inspiration for my next vacation or have a great idea for how to spend a day skipping work in DC.
