My self-summary
This whole thing is pretty much just an essay contest on the subject of how great we each think we are, right?
Awesome.
Well, I do think I'm pretty all right, actually. I seem to have a fairly easy time getting along with almost everyone I meet, which could mean that a.) I'm a pretty all right guy, b.) I'm beautiful and everyone is vying for my favor, or c.) I have autism and am grossly misreading the whole situation.
I like working with my hands, and I like thinking with my, um, brain. And talking. With my mouth.
What I’m doing with my life
I work as a bicycle mechanic and salesperson, and as a bicycle courier. I studied Spanish and Philosophy at the UW. In my spare time I enjoy reading, television and movies, sheephead, (a card game,) video games, and unpaid bike-related activities.
I’m really good at
Velcro, naps, hanging motionless from the monkey bars, quantum thermodynamics.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
1. Books: Catch-22, The Monkey Wrench Gang, Snow Crash, All the Pretty Horses; lately, A Song of Ice and Fire. Science fiction is my favorite genre, but it's got to be well-written, not just imaginative.

2. Movies: Airplane!, Wet Hot American Summer, Brazil, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Monty Python movies, Dirty Work. I don't watch that many movies because my attention s

3. Shows: Six Feet Under gave me a completely new respect for television's potential, and suddenly there was this crazy T.V. renaissance that's given us Louie, Breaking Bad, Archer, The Venture Bros, Community... I admire writers that push their genres in unexpected directions.

4. Music: Belly, Neutral Milk Hotel, the Dandy Warhols, the New Pornographers, ABBA, the Pixies, Toots and the Maytals, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Rage Against the Machine, Neko Case, The B-52's. Not Mumford. There's waaaay too much Mumford. On reflection, I guess I really dig musical innovation too. The Proclaimers did it first, Mumford!

5. Colors: Blue. No, Yel - AGHHHH!

6. Food: Sriracha on everything. Vientiane Palace, Roman Candle Pizza, Willalby's, Lazy Jane's, Lao Laan Xang, Batch Bakehouse.
The six things I could never do without
- Ceviche
- Amphetamines
- Patriarchy
- The music of James Blunt
- Flossing
- Bootlegged James Blunt concert DVDs
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what it means to be conscious. What it means to have moral obligations, and what those obligations might be. Time, causality, memetics and politics. Avoiding homicidal drivers. Snacks.
On a typical Friday night I am
recuperating, with a beer in one hand and a bowl of curry in the other. Every Friday I spend a 9 to 11-hour work day riding my bike and deliverin' stuff. On Monday nights I do pub trivia, and on Tuesdays I go to "Scotch 'n' Watch," my friends' T.V. night.
