I am spontaneous, sporty, and a social worker!.

My Self-Summary

I am a social worker even though all the tests I took in high school said I should have gone into something mathematical or technical. I'm a linear person, but I don't have to plan everything. I'm organized, but in a way that some people would think is unorganized. What I have come to believe this means - I'm a go-with-the-flow type of person. I think my friends would agree.

Overall I have a positive attitude, I take Viktor Frankl's book, "Man's search for Meaning" to heart. He teaches that our attitude about any situation is the only thing we can control. I haven't been able to completely conquer this belief, but I'm working on it! I'm able to look at quite a few tough situations and think about how when it's all done I will look back and laugh.

Another tid-bit - I LOVE LOVE LOVE going to to the theatre, whether it's a Shakespearean play, a musical or even just a band concert. I also love to bowl, I bowled for the University of Kansas. I also love college basketball, especially Jayhawk basketball.

What I’m doing with my life

Right now I am working to build experience to hopefully get a job where I can utilize my Master's degree in a little over a year from now. Although, if a job popped up now, I would most likely take it. With this said, I do love my job. I'm working at a local non-profit with homeless families, helping them get and keep permanent housing. It has taught me a lot about myself and my beliefs.

I currently live in DC, but not sure if I am going to stay here or move on for the next part of my life. I moved here a few years ago after undergrad without knowing anyone, but wanting to get away from the only thing I knew. I kind of want to do that again - regain my adventurous side! I do like it here, though, so my mind is definitely not completely made up to go.

I’m really good at

Making people laugh and having a good time. Relaxing. Bowling. My Kansas friends love it when I do karaoke, but I haven't done that out here yet.

The first things people usually notice about me

Probably how young I look. Also that I'm short.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Viktor Frankl, "Man's Search for Meaning". I love funny movies, Napoleon Dynamite, Super Troopers, Ice Age. I also like Garden State, A League of Their Own and Fried Green Tomatoes. I love just about all kinds of music, though I have to admit that some of the newer stuff just isn't getting my attention in a positive way. (Am I getting old!?!) I love Mexican food!

The six things I could never do without

1. Family (blood and chosen)
2. Socialization
3. A cell phone to keep in touch with my family
4. Food
5. Water

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Whatever has happened that day. What the future may hold for me. If I really want to continue in my field of work. My political beliefs. My family in Kansas.

On a typical Friday night I am

I'm usually dancing or hanging out with friends. Unfortunately I got talked into joining a league on Friday nights so from 6:30-about 10 I'm busy doing that up until May.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Hmmm...Scary movies scare me. I use the word 'definitely' too much.

You should message me if

You have a positive outlook on life, like to try new things and want to know more about me!

If you know what a Jayhawk is.

Just a note about my pictures - I realize that most of them have me drinking in them, this is not because I am an alcoholic, it just seems that the only time the camera comes out is when the drinks are in hand.
