Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
It seems that my life proves what my Daddy always told me . . .
after you grow up, you'll understand more. . . and I enjoy more as
well. I've entered that chapter where I can do what I want, when I
want and how I want (though I do have an inner compass that censors
my impluses somewhat). Though I've liked myself a lot for a long
time, I know there's still room for improvement and no such thing
as(or need for) perfection. I prefer to be a constant work in
progress rather than something ready to be hung in the museum. And
I prefer having someone special to share that process.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm retired from a long career of travelling the world. It left me
with lots of time on my hands and a hunger to see even more of the
world. I work part-time now in real estate but enjoy finding
volunteer work that feels good. I've been on non-profit boards, but
prefer the hands on of one-on-one work with clients. Right now I'm
mentoring low-income scholarship recipients, teaching ESL at the
Canal Alliance and working at times with Friends of the Library.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Meeting new people and learning their stories. As a veteran of more
night flights than I care to remember, I found it a great way to
pass the time and learn about new things. I'm also good at finding
my way around in new surroundings. I love really long walks or bike
rides and taking the road or path I've yet to explore. . . the "get
lost" route is my preferred form of GPS.
The first things people usually notice about me

Depends on whether they're looking at the outside or utilizing
their deeper senses. . . I don't offend the eyes, and have an
inquiring mind in a playful sense
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Movies that show character and nuance over spectacle. I recently
enjoyed Cairo Time, A Single Man and Mao's Last Dancer and I still
prefer sitting in a darkened theater with a big screen and giving
myself to a story with no chance of interruption. Classical, rock,
R&B, jazz are staples in my collection as well as the sound
track of my youth. . . deja vu through a song is a powerful thing.
I seek out local music whenever I travel as a way to learn more
about a culture. And I still get a thrill out of live venues.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Though I prefer to never say never: friends, optimism, nature,
animals, love, light
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
so many things . . .and too seldom nothing
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
enjoying the a la carte menu of the moment
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
is that I rue the loss of, and respect for privacy. We seem to feel
proprietary about every aspect of the lives of others, most
especially our public figures. Seems that we cease to separate
people's successes from what should be their private lives.
