My self-summary
So as a short disclaimer, i don't really like my profile name, but i don't know how to change it. i didn't think i would use this site much and all (apart from quizzes) and all of my usually screen names were unavailable.

Not sure what to summarize. I lived in San Luis Obispo almost my entire life. I lived in San Francisco for the past two years, but have had to move back due to financial strains. I am very liberal. However, I am always willing to have a spirited debate or philosophical/political disagreement with someone, as long as you treat me with respect while you are disagreeing with me. I love to read. I like "real" literature, but my comfort category is fantasy. My reading material right now is from a book exchange I did with my best friend. We're making each other read all our childhood or teen favorites, and it's really fun. I love nerds of almost any type, they make the best friends. I love renaissance fairs and the SCA. Yay for dressing up in cool clothes and hitting people with swords! Or watching people get hit, just as good. I enjoy almost all music, especially classic rock and ani difranco. I enjoy animals and have a pet ball python snake. I like theatre, psychology, sociology, literature, history (but not American History) and photography. I have a little sister, friends across the state and the country (and sometimes the world), and a passion for life and discovery.
What I’m doing with my life
So that's an interesting question. The short answer is, I'm living with my friend and working full time. I recently started going to the gym regularly, and I hope to finish my AA at Cuesta this fall. Lets see if all that kills me! A slightly longer answer might include that I'm using this rather annoying and unexpected change in my life plans to do a bit of an overhaul to my life and goals and figuring out what I really want. One of the things I have committed to is being less of a hermit and socializing more. So someone come talk to me!
I’m really good at
Knitting! I have been teaching myself new knitting techniques lately, and I'm loving it. One of my new years resolutions is to be able to make a sweater by the end of the year.
Inserting awesome words into everyday conversations or writings. I think words are fascinating. I even have five favorite words: Defenestrate, Clavicle, Perspicacious, Egregious, and Nefarious. Pretty cool, eh? or maybe instead of "cool" you thought "random and useless and strange." Either is a perfectly fair response. I am also especially practiced at procrastinating or otherwise being lazy, telling dirty jokes, sarcasm, amateur photography, discussing politics, or really discussing anything, from theoretical or academic in nature to movies and the zombie apocalypse. I'd like to say I was incredibly creative, but sadly I don't think I could follow through on the boast, although I did use to write poetry. But I do admire creativity in almost any form. I would not say I have a lot of skills, certainly not 'marketable skills', but I have a passion for knowledge that helps compensate for that.
I'm good at listening, sympathizing, and other things that come from my habit of falling into the amateur therapist role for my groups of friends. At least, I'd like to think I'm good at it by now!
I'm good at learning. I love to learn, to stretch my mind. I love learning in school, in reading or experiencing things on my own, or by debating with other people and being forced to examine my assumed knowledge and opinions.
The first things people usually notice about me
um...I'm tall? well, 5'11" isn't very tall to me because I have a tall family, but it's still well above the national average for women (which is 5'6"). I've been mistaken for a guy. I don't get offended, I just think it's funny most of the time.
My personality. I'm really open. And not in the "I'll tell you my favorite color" sort of way, i mean I'll answer truthfully any question you can ask me, stranger or friend. I love meeting new people and making new friends. Even if someone turns out to not be the kind of person i want to be friends with, I love the 'getting to know you' process.
My short hair. It fluctuates throughout the year from half an inch to 7 inches at the most. Right now it is about 3 inches.
Despite not having much faith in the humans I usually come in contact with, I manage to maintain a pretty optimistic outlook on life.
If you meet me online, you'll probably notice my terrible spelling first. Spell check for the win!
It might not be the first thing, but people quickly notice my dark sense of humor. I love to laugh at disgusting things, inappropriate or un-pc things, and morbid humor. I fundamentally disagree with saying certain things should not be laughed at. I once read a psychology article saying that people who live through hard times are more well adjusted at the end if they have a dark sense of humor and can laugh at their troubles. See, I'm not inappropriate, I'm well adjusted!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
(a) Books: A Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings, Gender Outlaw, The God Delusion, American Gods, lots and lots of others. I am fond of authors like Neil Gaiman, J.R.R. Tolkein, George R. R. Martin, J. K. Rowling, Terry Pratchett, Shakespeare, Mercades Lackey, Langston Hughes, and more I can't think of at the moment. And that's just the fiction! I also love reading books on politics, history, psychology, sociology, gender studies, philosophy/religion. So for that list my favorites would have to be You Just Don't Understand, Medical Apartheid, The God Delusion, Sex With Kings, The Year of Living Biblically
(b) Movies: The Breakfast Club, Garden State, Labrynth, But I'm A Cheerleader, Whale Rider, Princess Bride, any Monty Python but especially Life of Brian, Newsies, Neverending Story, American History X, V for Vendetta, Almost Famous, American Beauty
(c) TV shows: Dr Who is my latest obsession, The West Wing, The Rachel Maddow Show (I hate not having news for too long, it makes me feel so disconnected from the world), Firefly, House, Bones, The Daily Show, Top Chef, Family Guy, Intervention, Project Runway, and every four years I get World Cup fever. International soccer is probably the only sport I like, and I make up for that by obsessing over it.
(d) Music: to start with: ani difranco, David Bowie, Queen, Incubus and The Poxy Boggards (if you know them, you get a gold star!). Lady gaga is sort of mandatory for me to like, as she is the current Queen of the Gays. Of course growing up in the 90's means that almost all music from that era has a soft spot in my heart, whether or not it's actually any good as music. I also like top 40 hip hop. It has absolutely no lyrical value, but after dancing to songs so many times I form a positive association and sometimes listen to them on the radio for some energetic music. As far as other kinds of music, I will listen to anything for a while, except really twangy country and mariachi. Yes this means I like some classical, jazz, african, metal, and other types of music that people who claim to be musically open minded ignore.
(e) Food: Indian food is my favorite genre, but as far as separates go: chocolate, dark chocolate, pasta, steak, pizza, potatoes (in any form except potato salad. mayonnaise is an instrument of the devil) garlic bread, tea, thai iced tea, fruit and berries (especially raspberries. best thing in the world), milkshake. However I hate cooking, and will eat anything someone wants to cook for me. As long as it isn't too spicy.
(f) web comics: xkcd, girls with slingshots, They All Bleed The Same (my friend draws it, check it out!: http://www.tabts-comic.com/), DAR (sadly ended)
The six things I could never do without
books, chocolate, my family, people who make me laugh, sex, best friends, hugs, things to learn, news, fresh fruit, sleep, vital organs. That's more than six. I defy your rules, muaaahahahahaaa!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I'm thinking all the time. So I end up thinking about quite a few things, and I'm sure a full list would not be very constructive. A partial list may include: all the chores I'm avoiding, fun psychology stuff I've read recently, the best way to dispose of a body, what my friends are up to, how cats magically feel twice as heavy as they should when they sit on you, how much a cleaning and cooking slave costs these days, the current state of affairs in politics, if I can find a money tree somewhere so that I can move into a better house, what kind of dinosaur would make the coolest pet, or what my next knitting project should be.
On a typical Friday night I am
The same thing I do every night; try to take over the world!
Actually, lately it's usually working. If not I'm hanging out with my new roommates.
If alone I could be reading, listening to music, checking my favorite websites, knitting, chatting with my out of town friends online, watching endless streaming videos on Netflix, or playing The Sims or Guild Wars (online computer game).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I refuse to believe that King Arthur was not real. You cannot convince me otherwise.
I’m looking for
  • Guys and girls who like bi girls
  • Ages 21–28
  • Near me
  • For new friends, activity partners, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
You are a coherent and interesting person and want to talk to a random stranger and you don't TALK IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE YOU'RE YELLING AT ME. I'm open to talking to anyone about anything, although I don't use this site as much any more, but go ahead anyway! New friends are always welcome. I don't know a lot of people around here anymore. Please, come talk to me! It's always great to grab a coffee with someone and chat.
