I am witty, feminist, and human.
My Self-Summary
I am pretty boring, let's be honest here. I love reading, writing,
any form of artistic expression, taking pictures, crappy reality TV
(like Tool Academy. I refuse to believe that some of these people
aren't doing this as some form of performance art), realistic
movies, and political news. I like to think of myself as smart and
quick-witted, but I am probably fooling myself, so don't take my
word for it. I'm halfway a hipster (without the leggings-as-pants),
and one of my favorite past-times is copy editing (I mentioned the
boring thing already, yes?).
I am also a coffee monger.
What I’m doing with my life
Working as a secretary, which I fucking love! Faxes, toners, mail,
meeting minutes - it's all so gorgeous. Otherwise, I'm trying to
focus on writing (like signing up for NaNoWriMo, because apparently
I am fucking insane), start up a new photography website, and
figuring out how to blend the perfect coffee/soy/flavoring latte.
I’m really good at
I am amazing at making wry jokes, being apathetic, deconstructing
the sociopolitical undertones of movies and/or TV, and also
photography.
Oh, and being humble. I am awesome at that.
The first things people usually notice about me
I normally get told I have a great personality, which probably
means they like my boobs. Also, my smile.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Well, I love reading and have never really been able to narrow down
a booklist. I guess a few of favorites right now would be
We
Have Always Lived In the Castle,
Jonathan Norrel
and Mr. Strange, and
American Gods.
Movies, let's see. I love indie movies, like
Rocket Science,
Synecdoche, New
York, or
The Science of Sleep. Of
course, I also saw the new
Star Trek twice in theaters,
so...
I like indie music, too, like
The Weepies,
Hello Saferide,
The Blow,
Jonathon Stark,
Laura Marling, or
Tilly and the
Wall. Mix in some
Lady Gaga (...don't judge) and some
Panic at
the Disco and you've got my music taste.
I am a humongous foodie. I deeply and irrevocably love food in all
forms, and will eat almost anything. I do have a pesky allergy to
dairy products and any dairy derivation, but otherwise anything is
game.
The six things I could never do without
Um, okay, let's see:
My roommate
Books (this new Kindle thing? Where you can have thousands of books
at your fingertips? It weirds me out. What ever happened to turning
pages, or smelling that musty old book smell, or hearing the
crinkle of yellowed pages when you first open a book? In other
news, those damn kids better get off my lawn)
www.jezebel.com
My camera
My sense of humor, otherwise the world would just be shitty
Dark chocolate
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Deep, philosophical things.
But on a serious note, I do love thinking about and discussing
philosophy, religion, science, and the abstraction of humanity. Or
the different socio/political/cultural norms that benefit and
hinder society. The downfall of the modern teenager (do they even
know how to properly spell "you" anymore? I think not). Ways to
properly structure sentences/phrases.
On a typical Friday night I am
Catching up on episodes on
Hulu, going out with my roommate, or
spending time in a local coffeeshop.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Well it could be anything, right? From "I can't sleep with socks
on" to "I don't always get along with my family" to "It's still
hard to believe that I'm considered a grown-up".
Note: all of these things are true.
