I am short, light, and ugly.
My Self-Summary
I'm currently single, living and working in River North. I have a
rather eclectic mix of interests and hobbies, which I get to later.
I don't discriminate against too many things, and I'm almost always
willing to try something at least once. On a personal preference
level, I'd chose music over sports, food over sleep, and education
over beer, unless that beer is
Tecate or
Delirium Tremens. My friends
would probably describe me as the facilitator, enabler, or the
instigator -- of course, only in the best of ways.
What I’m doing with my life
Work: Gainfully employed finance professional. Surprising, yes, but
these jobs still do exist despite the recent backlash. I don't work
for an evil conglomerate or a defunct AIG-esque type of business.
Our company is small in comparison and a fun organization in which
to belong. I love my job, but there is so much more to life than
work. It pays the bills and I enjoy what I do, so for now it work
works for me.
Play: I start early and get off late, so most weeknights I'm
hanging out at home or out for a relaxing dinner. Weekends are a
different story. Stressful work pays, so why not expend some pent
up energy with friends at a bar or club.
Hobbies: I have a recent infatuation with pool. Not that I'm any
good. I really wish there were more fooseball tables in this city.
Thats a game where I have an advantage after having a table in
college. I've played piano and guitar for most of my life, but
really only get the opportunity to play electric guitar now that
I'm in the city without a piano. Occasionally, I lend a hand at a
local youth organization on Monday nights, but I'm looking for a
more regular volunteering opportunity for the summer.
Athletics: Tennis is my favorite sport, and I've played most my
life. I still get out on the courts on a regular basis. Winter
really puts a damper on this, but when spring rolls around, I
usually make it out a couple of times a month, usually outside at
Oz Park or Waveland.
Travel: I studied abroad in Europe, but it's been four years and
I'm getting an itch to go back. I still would like to make it to
South America, possible Rio or La Paz in the next year. Otherwise,
I love the Carolinas, Fort Lauderdale / Miami, or Orange County.
They make for great extended weekend trips.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: I like to read for enjoyment, mostly non fiction though. The
Black Swan, Blink, Freakonomics, Fooled by Randomness, Liars Poker,
Ugly Americans, and Tipping Point are pretty engaging to me.
Anything that gives me a different perspective on life or the
world.
Music: I love jazz and blues, classic rock, and a limited selection
of indie / pop. In all honesty, there really isn't a genre that I
don't like except country. A couple of favorites now are LCD
Soundsystem, Daft Punk, Röyksopp, Radiohead, Gotan Project, Amon
Tobin, Bonobo, Erlend Øye, Nightmares on Wax, etc.
Movies: My interests usually lead me to the more obscure flicks,
but here are a few for starters: American Movie, OldBoy, Amores
Perros, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Deathproof, Jacob's
Ladder, Snatch, Big Fish, City of God, Fletch, Trading Places, and
Groundhog Day.
TV: 30 Rock, Californication, Eastbound and Down, Top Chef, No
Reservations
Food: Personally, I love dining out. Its gotta be one of the
greatest things about Chicago. The diversity of cuisines available
is astonishing. From Thai to Ethiopian to classic French, I've yet
to get bored of the food scene. It seems to constantly change with
new inductions and improvements of the existing long-loved
establishments. Thai and Korean food are my favorites, but a rack
from Smoke Daddy's or a strip from Primehouse always hits the spot.
Jake Melnick's, is a rather generic tourist spot with awesome hot
wings and overpriced beer. I love it. Places still on my list to
visit are Publican, Arun's, Avec, mk, Topolobampo, and Schwa. As
much as I like dining out, I have a passion for cooking, but
cooking for one is no fun.
