My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
After a little break this is my second time around on here. I’m “reinventing” myself with a new profile name! (*canned television applause*) Picking a dating site profile name is the worst. People read into everything. So I went with a random Latin word that refers to some kind of plant. (Okay it turns out this plant is poisonous. Let's move on...)

All in all I’m a pretty happy person and I’m enjoying my life in Philly. I moved here two years ago after graduate school in New York. I miss New York, but don’t love that Philly lives in its shadow. I guess that’s the blessing and curse of Philly: “Thank god Philly is not New York!” and “Ugh, Philly... it’s not New York.”

But I have a great group of friends here and live in cozy little house (with a fireplace meant for lovers) and since I actually found a professor job (*victory horns*) I feel pretty stable and settled and stuff. I’ve been trying to find the right someone for a couple of years now, after a (really) long term relationship. The okcupid thing has been okay. I’ve met some great people. My philosophy is, "slow and steady wins the race." (This is also my sexual philosophy. Just kidding! Maybe.)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I do stuff that professors do, at Temple. I teach and do research and waste my time at committee meetings. I study mass media and Europe and national and transnational identity and stuff. I'm starting a new project in Morocco, which has been cool (and by "cool" I mean scorchingly hot).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Talking. Thinking. Sleeping in. Cuddling (while sleeping in).

Reading books. Reading about books. Movies. Talking about movies. Reading about movies. Reading about movies about books.

Eating and drinking wine. Skiing (in snow). Traveling (usually to Europe; or home to Chicago; or to northern New Mexico, where the air smells like pine needles. Zoning out at the gym. Walking for a long time around the city. Sitting on the porch and drinking scotch with my friends. Running. Writing academicky things (I actually enjoy this, sometimes). Yoga.

and long walks on the beach (*canned television applause*)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm "young looking" to be a professor. Also, people ask about my ethnicity a lot. I'm mostly Polish/Italian, but people guess all kinds of stuff that usually indicates that they are racist.
