Two of my favorite authors are Jack Kerouac and Neil Gaiman.
However, the majority of the reading I do these days come in comic
book and graphic novel form. My concentration as an undergrad was
Cultural, Rhetoric, and Media Studies, so I like to analyze and
critique everything I read. I love breaking comic books down into a
more literary form while still incorporating the importance of the
illustrations and how said illustrations help/hurt the conveyance
of the written story.
I've been a film critic/journalist of sorts for almost four years
now. Films have played a huge role in my life, both personally and
professionally, so it's hard to name some of my favorites (simply
because I don't have any). If I had to make a Netflix
recommendation, it would be Upstream Color by Shane Carruth.
I don't really care for TV as much as I do film, but some of my
favorite shows are South Park, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia,
Breaking Bad (RIP), How I Met Your Mother (RIP), Freaks and Geeks
(RIP), and Arrested Development (RIP).
I've been on the outer realm of the local hip hop scene for the
better part of two years now. Some of my best friends are rappers
and producers gaining some heavy national momentum. However, I'm
not really into hip hop the way I've always been into punk
rock/post-hardcore. Some of my favorite bands are Fugazi,
Jawbreaker, Cap'n Jazz, Melt-Banana, The Impossibles, and Fucked
I'm basically paleo, save for the occasional pizza and taco. I've
been at it since Super Bowl Sunday, and it's not as hard as I
thought it would be. Still, I really fucking miss horchata.
