I am loyal, affectionate, and snarky.
My Self-Summary
I'm a single mom.
I'm a classical singer with a music theory background.
I'm a bookworm.
I'm a Catholic, though I disagree with the Church on a few things
(gay rights being the big one), and I won't try to force my beliefs
on anyone.
I'm a cat owner.
I'm open-minded and fairly laid-back, though I can come across as
very serious at first.
I enjoy a beer or a glass of good wine with friends.
I love baking -- cakes, cookies, as long as it has a ton of sugar
and can be decorated with icing, I'll make the attempt.
I have two tattoos, no plans to get any more.
I'm a bit of a filthy hippie, but the kind that showers and shaves
on a regular basis; most of my friends are Burners, but I have no
desire to drink the koolaid and join them.
I don't exactly enjoy working out, but I'm concerned enough about
my health in 20 years to do so and stay fit.
I have my M class license, and at one time owned an '88 Honda
Hawk.
I love a good hockey game (go Stars!).
I enjoy board games, though I hardly have time to play them
now.
I love costume parties, clever puns, and a snarky sense of humor.
What I’m doing with my life
I work a desk job to pay the bills and I sing to live. I'm a single
mom to the most beautiful little boy in the world, born in August.
I’m really good at
I'm a darn good singer (good enough to get paid for it on a regular
basis). I'm an awesome baker -- my homemade oatmeal cream pies are
to die for. I'm pretty good with puns when my brain is turned on.
The first things people usually notice about me
The bags under my eyes. Did I mention single mom with a newborn?
I'm told I have a nice smile.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I'll read anything recommended to me by a friend. I love sci-fi and
fantasy: Bujold, GRR Martin, Brust, Gaiman. I'll read anything by
Bernard Cornwell, and most anything by Stephen King.
I don't have any real favorites, but I'll watch any movie that
sounds entertaining. I particularly enjoy stupid comedies like
Shaun of the Dead, Undercover Brother, and Super Troopers, and I
have a perhaps unhealthy love for all three Jurassic Park
movies.
I'm not much of a tv-watcher; Doctor Who, BSG, and Firefly are
pretty much it.
Classical music, of course, as well as trip-hop, electronica
(Goldfrapp!), and lately new wave.
I love love love sushi, and anything sweet. And Italian. And
Mexican. I just love food. (Yet another reason to exercise
regularly, so I can continue to eat delicious food!)
The six things I could never do without
My son. I honestly don't know how I ever lived before having my
beautiful little boy. I fall in love with him all over again every
time me smiles at me.
God -- I'm a believing, practicing Catholic. (If that's not your
cup of tea, please don't try to start an argument with me. I'll
happily discuss, but I won't insult or be insulted. For what it's
worth, most of my friends are agnostics and atheists; I'm the token
christian. It has never caused problems.)
Music -- there is always some form of it playing if I am
awake.
A good book to read, even if I don't have much opportunity to read
more than a few pages at a time.
My Kitchenaid mixer. It's so badass, it has flames on the sides.
I'm not kidding.
At least one good friend I can call at any time of day or night.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
raising my son.
On a typical Friday night I am
taking care of the cutest baby in the world, preferably while
watching a movie and eating delivery pizza with a friend or two.
You should message me if
you know what my screen name means, or if you're not scared off by
CATHOLIC and BABY. It's really not that bad, I promise. =)
