Currently living in Madrid after a summer in DC and will be back in the States by January.

I'm a bit of a busybody who enjoys seeing and experiencing new things. I also love rowing, especially along the Harlem River at 5:30am when it's snowing. I have a pretty biting sense of humor and use comedy to get me through my days. If I'm tired, I'm laughing.

Originally from South Carolina by way of Texas, I really enjoy NYC but will always be in love with the South. The perfect personality can be found in a Southerner: polite and respectful, but always willing to be funny and goofy.

I'm from a family of Bostonians on one side and Rednecks on the other. So thick skin and bullheadedness are built into the genes.

I'm a political junkie and I love to argue. Not a liberal Democrat (like me)? Great! Just gives us something to debate.

Going to school for history and public policy, putting together a list of business cards, and on the day after graduation, hoping one of them gives me a job. Grad school? Law school? Whatever I can do in this economy to keep myself happy until I'm ready to do big things.

Going after something until I get it. Normally a reporting lead or a contact for an event I'm putting together. Whatever's gotta be done, you can find me online or on the phone losing sleep over getting what I need onto paper or into the event schedule.

My laugh (kind of big and cheery - one of the few things about me that is noticeably and glaringly Southern).

Essays (Klosterman and Vowell are my favorites), political think pieces (Rand, but for the story, not the philosophy), and presidential biographies (Teddy Roosevelt was the coolest guy ever).

All types of movies, but I avoid the floozy stuff. I'm an Oscars hound and always enjoy classic dramas and comedies from the nineties.

Music is most anything, except for rap and country. The general hipster, NYC trends - Department of Eagles, Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear, Sufjan Stevens, and Bloc Party - always get me going, but a piece by a jazz great like Monk or a piano piece by Phillip Glass makes me very, very happy.

Bodegas (for those not familiar with NYC, these are the corner stores, often run by Chinese or Latino immigrants, that sell all types of food, bottled drinks, and toiletries, and where they make amazing sandwiches. Bodegas are the best places in NYC to get a good bagel - an everything bagel with lox and cream cheese... I'm already drooling.)

Figuring out how not to be bored, then tweeting about it so my friends back in Texas are convinced that NYC is amazing and they need to be here if they want to be happy.
