My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Traded to startup tech in NYC from mathy academia in Chicago. New to the city but I've been told my exploring rivals persons having many more years in the tri-state.

Love my job & team so it can be a challenge to leave the office. When I do, I split time listening to NPR podcasts, cafe hopping with my trusty mac air or jumping around the nightlife with local friends or colleagues. Still looking for artsy hobbies and open to suggestions (it's been hard to replace the great hyde park art center I had during graduate school!).
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
A special blend of tech engineering, data science and product management with a new, popular discovery e-commerce business (kudos if you can guess). Making the most of absorbing from fellow smarties and learning about the real world instead of the theoretical studies in algebraic geometry (<- beautiful mathematics studied more for art than application).

Oh and some kind of perfect language about balancing health and spending silly amounts for Equinox (which I'd still argue is totally worth it economically if you go X amounts of time each month).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
being viking german strong in a world where it's not necessarily practical, normal amongst nerds, sleeping less than desired, (new) semi-responsible and memorable for my roaring laughter if hit with the right humor.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
is that I normally don't ask someone I just met what I should write in this block :-).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Subject to change and probably not be updated... but!

Music: Van Morrison - Astral Weeks, Justice, The National, Health, Crystal Castles, Lindstrom, Chromatics, DJ Medhi, Bloody Beetroots (guess I'm on some spacepop dance punk kick).

Books are usually technical but otherwise have a long term fondness for the works of W. G. Sebald. Could improve here though.

Radio <3 NPR = This American Life,  Moth, Wait Wait, Radiolab, Planet Money

TV: recent = true detective, otherwise Arrested Development, Planet Earth, Seinfeld, The Wire, Twin Peaks, Archer, Parks & Rec, Breaking Bad and the rest of the snooty watch lists.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
You x6 (that's of course if you can cite the definition of a manifold, know that interpreted languages are sexy but realize the need for speed in the good ol' C-like compiled languages or you're great for many other reasons).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
what is the most efficient way to spend ones time on the subway (e.g. podcast + email cleanups, reading the intelligent investor, quietly zen or becoming a subway etiquette enforcer).
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
convincing my co-workers that they're really not that tired to go out.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
my third nipple has a fourth nipple, wait that doesn't make sense.

you just finished an amazing run, brainy people excite you, aren't too shy to get a quick coffee around midtown or visit some over-priced hipster approved cocktail bar.
