My self-summary
Twas brillig and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimbel in the wabe.

We need more nonsense and absurdity in the world. I'm convinced that we would benefit as a planet if we brought more silliness into play. Where are our jesters, our satirists, our clowns and comedians?

No, the wacko and absurd isn't gone from the world.
It's here. It's in you and me.
We just need to magnify it.
Turn the volume up to eleven.

Imagine how much less crime and punishment there would be if we had more nonsense. Imagine the childlike laughter that would ring through the streets--and through your head--if we shared more nonsense. More silly. More non sequiturs. More goofy kookiness for its own sake.

I'm on a mission. Let's do this dance.
What I’m doing with my life
Sundry nonsense: producing film projects, writing, promoting a new comedy series online (it's about a Girl and the word Generic is in the title), running an educational business, and other good stuff. Dealing with this whole life thing of throwing time and effort out of balance only to return it to "balance," whatever that may be. Life's a stage.

Empowering other creatives and students is certainly the rewarding part of the day that's "work" related. It's a beautiful thing when you enjoy what you do--but that's just "work." Hanging with friends and fam is the true main course. The work stuff is a means to an end. What end? Save that question and we'll chat about it.

I've been returning to more reading (especially novels I read decades ago to see how they resonate differently now that I'm older), jamming on the bass with friends-- messing with the acoustic guitar once in a while...

A bit more hiking, cycling, cooking, and eating tasty tastes whenever possible. I've also been scoping out possible spots off the coast of PV for snorkeling. It's faster and less expensive than scuba diving-- but I'd be down for planning a scuba trip if you're game. :) Are you?

What more... breaking bread with friends and sharing silly discourse. Checking out live tunes, theater, or museums about town. Meditation, yoga more frequently. It's about creating habits. Ah, I also get consistently owned by my little sister when we play Scrabble and there ain't no shame in that because she's always going to win. She knows too damn many two- and three-letter words.

Lately, I haven't done as much camping, traveling, diving, backpacking, photographing, etc. as I would like, but if you're intrigued and have some gear, we'll make it happen.
I’m really good at
explaining, fixing busted stuff, cooking, motivating, throwing dinner parties, singing in the car, networking, throwing down a bass line in the pocket, helping a brother out, connecting people in business, forgetting languages I once knew better, facial expressions...
The first things people usually notice about me
My inability to be serious for too long? You tell me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
To claim favorites is to disregard much too much.

On the recent list: Frederik Pohl, William Gibson, Gordon R. Dickson, Malcolm Gladwell, Joseph Campbell, Richard Adams, George R.R. Martin, and books about crows and corvids for a fiction project I'm researching. If you're into birds-- I mean REALLY into birds--you've gotta read anything by Bernd Heinrich.

Film / TV / Opera / Vaudeville: it's all up for discussion. Preferably over tangy or bubbly beverages.

Beats: most anything with a sense of musicality. Most grooves with a mean wah pedal, or a banjo, and anything with a duduk. The AM and PM tracks on Kcrw.

Chow: All good food cooked with soul, passion, and a kick in the pants. Crepes, crumpet, creole, all that. Fresh = as little time elapsed from the sustainable farm to the table. In another lifetime (what feels like a lifetime), I went to culinary school and cooked in some crazy professional kitchens... which is another conversation.
The six things I could never do without
Curiosity.
Artistic expression.
Human interaction.
Love in any of its varied forms.
Silliness.
Activity.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
nature, human behavior, stories, future adventures, the absurd, the present.

More recently, I've mused about that one ship some people talk about, you know the ship? That bit about "someday"... now, dig this: your ship is *not* going to come in someday-- it's already here. It's at the dock ready for you to embark, but you're looking in the wrong place. Or you're still on your derriere pondering, "When is my ship going to come in?" Stop pondering, get moving, boogie.

If you fancy the word "derriere" then we really must chat.
On a typical Friday night I am
not predictably in any particular place with certain people among good food and drink and song and merrymaking... but I could be.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
How about a corny joke instead?

So this farmer has 3 gorgeous daughters who are all getting primped and preened for their dates on a Friday night. The first beau comes to the door and says, ''I'm Eddie, I'm here to pick up Betty. We're going for spaghetti, is she ready?''

"No," says the farmer.

A moment later, the second beau comes to the door and says, ''I'm Joe, I'm here to pick up Flo to take her to the show. Is she set to go?''

"No," says the farmer.

The third beau comes to the door and greets the farmer, ''Hello, my name is Chuck--''

The farmer shoots Chuck.
