My self-summary
My mind cannot find the first word to begin defining itself :)

To put it out there: if you're funny, or courageous, or open-minded, or musical, or creative, or intelligent, or curious, or imaginative, or graceful, or deep (or a little dark), or a combination of any of these things, I will probably like you. Not LIKE like. Let's not jump ahead!

Some words have come to mind:
Secular humanist (I think that's the right term)
Thoughtful
Curious
Witty
Mostly liberal
Questioning
Funny (if you're my type of person, of course)
Knowledge seeker
Traveler

My idealist and realist sides get in the way of each other a lot.

I get restless pretty easily, so I like to always have something going on. I'm looking for more "involvement" hobbies.

I probably should have become a psychiatrist.

Sometimes the things that we as Americans seem to care about and value most scare me a little bit. I hope this is because I have high hopes for people and not just because I'm somehow already some crotchety old man who can't stand the "kids these days."
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an engineer, but I'm open to other routes. I don't want any one thing to define me. I'd like to be able to look back one day and be proud of my body of work, whether that be at work or in my personal life. I also don't really plan to ever "retire." I just want to get to the point that I can start doing what I really enjoy and not have to worry about money so much.
Outside of work, I'm trying to enrich my life (or however you want to say that). I think good experiences and learning things are much more valuable that material things (I do have an iPhone, but I plan on keeping this one until it basically crumbles in my hand).

I'd like to visit more countries, and visit every continent (maybe besides Antarctica just because of cost).
I’m really good at
Making people feel at ease, seeing different sides of an issue, teaching myself things, finding humor is mostly everything, remaining hopeful, looking for books at Barnes and Noble and then buying them at Half Price.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I like a lot of different books. I have read many throughout my life and I think this has been an important part of who I am. I've read a lot of the Russian classics (like Crime and Punishment and War and Peace). I've also read a lot of modern fiction, and lately I've been getting into philosophy/psychology-related books. I like to learn about other people think.

Shows: It's Always Sunny makes me laugh no matter how I'm feeling. My roommate has also gotten me into Archer. I also like to watch Mad Men. I don't watch a lot of TV though. Only when I feel like doing absolutely nothing else.

Music: I'm a bit of a music nerd. I really like classical music (and when I hear classical music on a commercial or something I can almost always identify it). I also like jazz. Some of my favorite bands are Coldplay, Keane, and Muse.

Food: Yes, please.
The six things I could never do without
A violin
The internet (I hate putting this here but it really is essential and a good tool for things. I get all my sheet music off it!)
A car
Books
Freedom of thought/time
People I care about
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How amazing it is that everyone's life is different, no matter how similar they appear to be. Everyone is unique.
What kind of life I want to lead.
(When I start thinking a lot, I start writing things down)
On a typical Friday night I am
On weekends I try to do at least one event-type thing in Houston (a music show, a movie, trying a new restaurant). I also always take some time for myself. This is usually split between reading in the park, playing violin, driving, drinking coffee, etc. I like to recharge!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I didn't drink until I turned 21. I was in China at the time. The students I was with ended up getting me to dance on a stage in a Chinese nightclub. I got kicked off, but I think that just for one moment all the Chinese people enjoyed seeing it happen
