I am optimistic, ambitious, and witty.

My Self-Summary

Seriously, who's going to pick adjectives that don't make them look good? In all honesty, let's add neurotic, punctual and lazy to the list (they're not necessarily mutually exclusive).

By day, I work at UCF. My job isn't really that interesting but I like the people I work with and it pays well. I write software, kind of. I think I'm also some kind of management but I'm not sure. I guess I liked college so much that I'm just never leaving.

I like to travel a lot when I can get the time off, even if the airport isn't fun anymore. Got into SCUBA diving just because it gives me an excuse to travel to Central American nations I've got no business being in.

I play football and basketball pretty regularly. Not that I'm great at either, but it's fun. I also make it a point to run every morning; if my monster beagle's going to wake me up, I might as well do something productive, right?

Some of the more embarrassing facts: I'm a Miami Dolphins fan (less embarassing than it used to be), I firmly believe that laser tag is a perfectly acceptable thing to enjoy at my age, I watch reality television when nobody's looking and I spend a lot of time trying not to work. (See: this)

What I’m doing with my life

You know, I'm not really sure; I know I've got a career and a couple of dogs but beyond that I guess I'm trying to find out exactly what it is I want to do with my life.

That really doesn't answer the question, does it?

It seems like any time you think you know what you want - and you get it - you've got to come up with some other driving force to keep you going. It's probably best to put big ones out there, just so you know you've always got something to work toward.

So here they are: I'm going to climb Mount Everest and I'm going to go to space. That's what I'm going to do with my life.

I’m really good at

I'd like to think I'm good at my job. I'm also pretty good at believing in lost causes, bar tab trivia, keeping myself motivated, rock/paper/scissors, staring contests and being on time.

I think a more interesting slant on it would be things I'm not good at: keeping my work and personal life apart, tequila shots, knowing when to give up, and filling out surveys.

The first things people usually notice about me

That's really up to you, isn't it? The first thing I usually notice about me is that I look tired, but I usually see myself around 5:30 in the morning.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books? I read a lot, so I'll throw a list of authors out: Irvine Welsh, Bret Easton Ellis, Hunter S. Thompson, Nick Hornby, Jerry Stahl, Jack Kerouac, Burroughs, Kurt Vonnegut, Philip K Dick, Cormac McCarthy, Chuck Klosterman. I'm completely stable, I swear.

Movies? Apocalypse Now, Grosse Point Blank, Indiana Jones (except for the one with the aliens), Batman (even the one with Clooney), until the end of the world, High Fidelity, Trainspotting

Music? This changes from week to week (or even hourly depending on how the day's going), but let's say: Ben Folds, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Bloc Party, Boards of Canada, Cake, Death Cab, the Eels, Explosions in the Sky, Frightened Rabbit, The Killers, Ludacris, Massive Attack, Mono, Muse, Portishead, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, //censored for shame//, The Strokes, Underworld, U2, The Who.

The six things I could never do without

1. My dogs (even if they are relatively ambivalent toward me)
2. My family (as rarely as I see most of them)
3. My friends
4. Clean socks (an extremely important part of any day)
5. Coffee (the most important part of any day)
6. My cell phone

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Work, pop culture, what other people are thinking about, that I spend too much time thinking and not enough time doing.

On a typical Friday night I am

.. it's been a while since I had a typical Friday night.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Sometimes when I'm running, I like to pretend I'm being chased by a bear for motivation.

You should message me if

You feel like it?
