My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a free-spirit guy who likes adventure, new challenges, and meeting new people. I write and edit for a living. Dance, cook, and watch movies, concerts, and theater for fun.

Also, I've got a passion for foreign languages, culture, and films. Especially all things French and Russian. Kudos to you if you speak either language, since I know both.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a federal government writer-editor by day. Dancer, dillettante, tea and coffee drinker, fellow traveler, and conversationalist by night. I'm also an animal enthusiast who volunteers a few times a month at one of the Humane Society's DC shelters, where I spend time with nice cats and dogs, keep them clean and fed, and get them set up with nice new forever owners.

I'm also mastering Latin dance. Bachata's my favorite, salsa my second. Good dance partners wanted.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Cooking! My potatoes au gratin gets rave reviews, and I can make a mean chicken fricasee. Also: Small talk, dancing (I can merengue, tango, and waltz like ain't nobody's business), daydreaming, and writing. I also give great back rubs and foot massages, or so I'm told.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
my positive energy.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Favorite movies: Amélie, Drowning Mona, The Fighter, Finding Forrester, Free Willy, Mr. Holland's Opus, Pan's Labyrinth, The Neverending Story, Training Day

Favorite shows: American Horror Story, Battlestar Galactica, Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Once Upon a Time, Parks and Recreation, Reno 911, Terriers, Weeds

Favorite Books: I'm a voracious reader of fantasy and horror. On the fantasy side, I especially love Terry Goodkind's Richard and Kahlan novels, Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials series, and Gregory Frost's Shadowbridge series. My horror favorites include The Twelve by Justin Cronin, World War Z by Max Brooks, Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill, and pretty much anything by Stephen King or John Saul.

Some science fiction shows up on my reading list, too. Such as Stephen Baxter's Transcendent and Exultant. And David Mitchell's Cloud Atlas.

I'm also not above reading a good "real-life" drama from time to time. The Girl Who Stopped Swimming by Joshilyn Jackson is one such book. So is A Grown Up Kind of Pretty, also by Joshilyn Jackson. And I read and loved Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl long before it was a movie (and no, I haven't seen the movie, nor do I intend to).

Other honorable mentions? The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho; Catch-22, by Joseph Heller; The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini; Les Fleurs du Mal, by Charles Baudelaire; Lost Horizon, by James Hilton; A Wrinkle In Time, by Madeleine L'Engle.

Favorite Music: J'aime bien la musique française. (Bonus points for you if you can translate that correctly without asking Google Translate.) Also a fan of: Beck, the Black Lips, Carbon Leaf, Chopin, Goldfrapp, Marilyn Manson, Moby, Portishead, Prodigy, Rob Zombie, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

I'm a huge fan of Loreena McKennitt, too--must be my Celtic roots.

Food: Anything Indian, Italian, Lebanese, or, of course, French.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Coffee, great conversation, good music, news, true friends, and another great goal to achieve.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Politics, and why the American political scene is so frustrating. And when and if we'll finally make the switch to true universal health care. Other things I think about: where and if the cosmos' ends exist, and what's there; if there really is more to this plane of existence than meets the eye; and other philosophical questions. On a lighter note, I'm also always thinking about what I might do come the weekend and, farther out, what new countries or states I might visit on my next vacation. And since I'm a writer, I'm always thinking of new things that I might write about.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
living the dream. My dream.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I hate brussels sprouts.
