I am geeky, awkward, and positive.

My Self-Summary

How to not sound contrived and ridiculous? I don't know. I'm a geek and I love writing. I've recently dropped out of university midway through year two of a four year program. I love travelling so much that I just want to go and see the world. In fact, I just up and moved to London, England for eight months. It is such an amazing city and I was lucky enough to get to travel quite a bit around Europe as well. I got to go to Prague, Vienna, Salzburg, Venice, Brighton, Dublin, Cork, Blarney, Edinburgh, Inverness, and Loch Ness, but it's never enough. I live in Canada again now, and I'm already aching to go back and travel around the UK and Europe some more. I love it there. The culture, the buildings, the people, the accents, the history, the feel of it. Love.

I love accents, as mentioned, and long haired boys, not yet mentioned. I think correct grammar is important. I'm a big fucking fan of Harry Potter and I'm an internet addict. My favourite band is Hanson, and if you just snorted or rolled your eyes or automatically thought less of me for it, don't bother continuing to read. I think encouraging freedom of expression and cultural and personal diversity are two very important things. I hate prejudice and preconceptions. I hate labels and expectations and any sort of boxes. I love eccentricity and originality and bravery and honesty.

Aside from that, I'm Canadian, I'm female, and I'm... practically an amazon woman. And by that I mean that I'm very tall and, well. Solid. I'm no waif of a girl. I also do a little plus size modelling. Or have done in the past, because I certainly haven't recently.

What else can I say? You could always just ask me.

What I’m doing with my life

I want to travel and write. That's all I know for sure. Oh, and live in New York some day, because it's the world in a city and I love freaks. London was the other city I wanted to live in, but I can check that off my life list of things to do now, as I just moved back to Canada after being there for eight months.

Right now, the focus of my life is travelling and learning about me so that I can figure out what I want to do with my life and where I want to go.

At the moment, I'm working at the front desk of a hotel. I actually really like the hospitality industry. It kind of goes hand in hand with my wanderlust, I think. Maybe one day I'll own my own hotel. I'm also kind of interested in teaching, but the idea of going back to university and writing essays for years makes me cringe.

Querría también aprender español mejor. Obviamemte mi español es muy malo, per no tengo nadie a con practicar. Hablas español?

I’m really good at

Who's to judge? I suppose there are lots of things, really. Depends who you ask.

Not blowjobs, that's for sure.

The first things people usually notice about me

I don't know. My mum says there's just something about me that attracts people. Something abstract and powerful because I'm an "enigma". But that's Mum. Mums are biased. Maybe that I'm really tall, or my smile. I have this habit of smiling at random people and at times they comment on it, or open a door for me, or something. I guess it's a pretty bright smile.

Then again, sometimes they just look away like I'm toxic or something. Apprently smiling at strangers earns mixed reactions.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

(a) I read a lot. It's hard to say which books are my favourites. I really love the Harry Potter series, of course. I'm a big fan of young adult books in general because that's the age group I want to write for. Anne Fine is really good, and her "Up on Cloud Nine" is one of my favourites. I also like more grown up books. "We the Living" by Ayn Rand is another one in my top ten. I read a lot of unpublished stuff on the internet, both original and fan fiction, and I enjoy that too. I also have a bit of a soft spot for Harlen Coben, a crime writer, but mostly just because I love his main charactor Myron Bolitar and his best friend Win. Good characters! Sarah Dessen is another one of my favourite authors, and she write sort of traditional coming of age stories, geared towards girls mostly. (That Mandy Moore movie How to Deal was based off of two of her books.) Sometimes her characters are a little cliched, but she's entertaining anyway. I think Judy Blume is a fantastic children's author, and I love her adult book Summer Sisters too. I couldn't get through the Lord of the Rings books, as much as I love the sci-fi and fantasy genres. Clearly I love reading, but I don't have as much time for it anymore as I'd like.

(b) Anything that's good. Queer movies in particular, I suppose. I just like that subculture. Also, foreign films, B movies, big blockbusters, indie flicks, alternative shit, chick flicks, comedies, drama, animated shows, etc. I love a lot of movies from all different categories. I suppose if I had to name I few I'd say Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Lost and Delirious, Velvet Goldmine, Saved!, Hairspray, Superbad, Charlie Bartlett, Juno, 300, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Heavenly Creatures, I'm The One That I Want (comedy show of Margaret Cho), Shaun of the Dead, the Harry Potter flicks, The Holiday, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, etc. I actually really love movies. I think they're one of the best parts about our current entertainment culture. I'll see almost anything! Not so into porn, however.

I'm also really into television shows right now. I follow Supernatural (inane crazy love for Dean on that show), Grey's Anatomy, and House, and then my super secret trashy dirty pleasure shows are America's Next Top Model and Tila Tequila's A Shot at Love. I actually really kind of have this big gay crush on her. She's adorable.

(c) Hanson, Queen, Billy Joel, Tom Petty,Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Reel Big Fish, The Mad Caddies, Nirvana, Jane's Addiction, Christ Botti (trumpet player, sort of jazzy), movie soundtracks, Broadway songs, Pink Floyd, Steve Miller, Fall Out Boy, Patrick Park, My Morning Jacket, Alanis Morrisette, Sarah Harmer, Death Cab for Cutie, All American Rejects, Crosby, Stills, and Nash (and Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, I guess), The Beatles, Rufus Wainwright, Hot Hot Heat, Bob Marley, McFly, Ben Lee, Jack Johnson, The Dixie Chicks, Bedouin Soundclash, the Sex Pistols, Jason Mraz, Blondie, Phantom Planet, Josh Ritter, The Lucksmiths, Tegan and Sarah, everything. I really like the sound of vocal harmonies, so choir music and things like that are fun to listen to as well.

(d) Chocolate. I'm addicted. I, unfortunately, get both sugar and salt cravings. I'm a big fan of kettle cooked sea salt and malt vinegar chips. I also love Greek, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, etc. I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't eat much red meat or anything referred to as "pork" (i.e. pork chops), but I eat bacon and ham and such. I don't know why, just a quirk, I guess. Just like how my sister once told me that shrimp and prawns were the spiders of the sea. Now I can't eat either, yet I love crab. Weird, huh? Anyway, as you can probably tell, I'm a foodie. I love food.

The six things I could never do without

There are a lot of things I couldn't do without. I mean, there are the obvious (air, water, food), plus there are the generic (family, friends, love), and lest we forget the uninteresting (my computer, music, writing).

So to spice it up, I'm going to try and think of six of the most obscure and weird things that I couldn't do without.

1) An eye mask. I stay up so late that sometimes the sun is up before I go to sleep and I can't sleep when it's light out. So. Necessary!

2) A microwave. What? I don't really cook.

3) Cute underwear. It's like everyone always says, right? Wear cute knickers so that if you get in a car crash, some hot doctor won't see you in your granny panties. (Conversely, I have this fear that by wearing granny panties, I would be inviting a car crash.)

4) Purple. As a colour. I own various purple shirts, purple pants, a purple blazer, and a purple scarf. And purple socks. If I wanted to, I could dress head to toe in purple. It's a good colour.

5) Hair appliances. Naturally curly hair is very high maintenance.

6) Dark blue Vision uni-ball pens. I can't write properly with anything else. It just feels wrong.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Stories, people, possibilities, situations far more interesting and dramatic than my life. Sex, I suppose, but then who doesn't? Maybe people who are having a lot of it, and I am not one of those people. Life. Friends. The future. What I might be missing. How much I hate spiders. Cravings, fixations, musings, things I don't understand, daydreams. What ifs and shoulda, coulda, wouldas. Social injustice. How to make the world a better place. Work. Just the normal things any young, curious, socially aware, open-minded creative writer thinks about. Whatever.

This is such a general question.

On a typical Friday night I am

Sitting on my computer writing (I do a lot of co-writing and role playing) or hanging out with friends. I rarely party, but I might be doing that too. Or working. I work at a hotel at the moment, and many mornings, days, and evenings are spent there.

Also, sleeping. I actually quite like sleep. Though lately, I've opted to spend my weekends embarking on epic Rock Band quests with my amazing, fun, nerdy friends. Or sometimes we get drunk and wrestle because apparently when I'm drunk I not only think I'm invincible, I also like to touch people.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I learned how to tell every key on my keychain by touch so that, in case I ever go blind, I'll never be locked out of my life.

Also, I've been to the doctor three times because I thought I had terminal illnesses, and any number of times because I'd learned about some obscure disease or whatever and thought I was dying. I'm a bit of a hypochondriac. I go to the doctor a lot. Also, I watch too much House and Grey's Anatomy.

You should message me if

You're curious, intelligent, fun, laid-back, interested. I don't know. If you want to. Just, do it if you want to. That's what life is about, I think. You have to make yourself happy.

...Not saying that I'll make you happy, of course. I mean, maybe I will, but that's not the point. I wasn't being cocky. I'm definitely not a cocky person.
