My Self-Summary

Greetings and salivations, peoples!

My name's Seb, and I'm a 30 year old gay guy who just recently moved to Ottawa, Ontario. Deciding that doing a BSc and Master's in computer science didn't help me reach the level of geekiness I was looking for, I'm doing my Ph.D. in math at University of Ottawa - I swear that saying that is gay repellant or something :D.

Anyways, when I'm not geeking out, I love going on the rowing machine, swimming, and jogging (which I do some of a few times a week), movies of all sorts, interesting non-pop non-top-40s music of many different types, reading, writing novels, inventing recipes (particularly Italian and Thai) and eating way more than anyone my weight should be able to get away with, talking about religion and spirituality, studying math and neuropharmacology, and all sorts of other things!

I also really like snakes, and I had five awhile ago, but now I only have one: a little male ball python, Artemis. I also have three pet cats - Fritz, who lives with his grandparents because of the "incident" (*j/k*), Raffi (aka Rufus von Rutherford III, as he's a world famous movie star), and Zoe (aka Plumpkin, for obvious reasons).

Although I listed "Buddhist" as my religion down there *looks down*, I'm actually a Taoist. If you don't know what that is, it's a really easy-going old Chinese philosophy that's atheistic and encompasses just being yourself and living in harmony with the things around you. I incorporate Taoism in my every day life and don't see why spirituality and day-to-day ongoings should be so disjoint as they are in, say, Christianity. Everything is spiritual and wonderful in its own way if you can appreciate it on that level. I'm not some creepy religious freak, though... I just do my own thing, be who I am, and enjoy every aspect of life, which is what Taoism is all about.

Anyways, if I haven't scared you off, drop me a message! I'm taken, but always looking for new people to chat and hang out with!

What I’m doing with my life

I'm doing my PhD in math so that I can become one of those stuffy, obnoxious professor-types that spontaneously develops a British accent and spouts out things like, "Plllease turn to page 68 of the book which *I* wrote." LOL j/k ;-), well... kinda.

Also, I love writing. I've written five novels, a novella (that won a competition and was recently published! *throws confetti excitedly*), and too many short stories and poems to count. I wouldn't mind making it big in fiction writing, too.

One day I'm going to live in Hawaii.

I’m really good at

Cooking! I love cooking and concoct my own recipes all the time (I think I've watched too much Iron Chef). I like to think I'm decent at math, writing, and many other things. I'm one of those weird people that's kinda good at everything but not amazingly good at anything.

Oh... and I like to think I can sing, although the shattered glass and screams of people fleeing in terror when I try are starting to make me wonder...

The first things people usually notice about me

My looks... people tell me I'm attractive. I honestly don't think I'm any more or less attractive than your average person, really, but it's still flattering all the same. Oh, and the fact that sometimes I'd answer my door wearing nothing but my six foot carpet python... but only if you'd be coming to sell me something, get money from me, or convert me to your religion. That usually scares people away pretty effectively... at least, *I've* never seen girl guides run that fast before.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books - I like to read a lot. The best books I've read lately are probably the Lemony Snicket books. I can't think of any favourites, except maybe Shulgin and Shulgin's PiHKAL. I'm embarrassingly addicted to Archie comics, which don't kick ass in any way but for some sick (and probably masochistic reason) reason, I can't stop buying them. Oh... I love to geek out with math books, too. My friends are often disturbed by the fact that I have a stack of math books by the bed... with the pages stuck together... just kidding... well... maybe.

Movies - Hmmm... I tend to watch stupid comedies, although I like all movies. As for the best? Hard to say. Probably L.I.E. - that movie was phenomenal.

Music - Indie rock and electonic music. My all time favourites are Stereolab, Modest Mouse, Autechre, and Biosphere.

Foods - Oh god, I love food and can seriously talk about food all day. I should weigh eight trillion pounds, I swear. I'm a huge fan of almost everything... some things I'm really crazy about are good Italian ingredients (expensive balsamic vinegar, parmigiano-reggiano cheese, and roasted red peppers make me wet), anything Asian with rice noodles, yellow mangoes, bacon (which should come in rolls instead of strips, I swear), pizza (especially homemade Italian pizza), etc. I'm writing my own online cookbook of my personal recipes now, which is way too much fun.

The six things I could never do without

My Powerbook, nachos, cheap beer, Thai food, dorky math books, and my Jeffy. In that order.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

...new and innovative ways to make kittens spontaneously blow up without the use of plastic explosives. Cats are awesome. Kittens are freaking evil, man. Nothing that cute can have that much energy and destructive potential unless it comes straight from the deepest bowels of hell.

Really? Food, boys, and boys eating food, probably.

On a typical Friday night I am

Usually just hanging out with a few friends, or taking it easy, drinking red wine, watching a few cartoon comedies, and doing something creative or educational like painting, writing, or reading a textbook for fun.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I once masturbated on a Greyhound bus in my seat. It was late at night, I was bored, and hey... stop looking at me like that. Yeah... it seemed like a good idea at the time - at least until I realized that I had no Kleenex. Yikes. Thank the nonexistent god for that blind man's seeing eye dog. Just kidding - well, about that last part, anyways.

You should message me if

Last time you checked, you had a pulse. I have high standards.
