I am Smart, Funny, and Affable.
My Self-Summary
Well, I have a busy but happy life working as a writer in the
evenings and in education with special needs children during the
day. I'm the only man working in a department with about eighteen
married women, all of whom (I'm told) love me in their own way. The
girls have me pegged as charming, funny and an old-school
gentleman, with a light seasoning of handsome, depending on
lighting conditions. I'm looking to meet and hopefully date someone
beyond the office door. I'd describe myself as a really nice guy
with a lot of time for the people who are important to me. I have a
fairly dry wit. I'm sincere, faithful and honest to the point that
my heart occasionally ends up sitting on my sleeve.
What I’m doing with my life
I've just been accepted onto a GTP program and will be a trainee
English teacher from September. Currently trying to get my first
book out the door before the madness begins in a couple of months
time. I guess I'm here because I'd really like to have someone to
share all these new times (and tests) with.
I’m really good at
Warm, witty, irreverant conversation; quoting obscure movies;
making people laugh (hopefully with and not at me - although that
isn't always the case); entertaining children and telling stories.
The first things people usually notice about me
Sense of humour - once they get over the shock of how tall I am, of
course.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Being a writer makes me a reader, by default, and I could probably
build a second house from all the books piled up around me. Love
Stephen King and Clive Barker, but also like to dig into the
classics. Gunter Grass/Kurt Vonnegut spring to mind, and my
favourite book of all time is Frankenstein.
I'm a huge movie fan, so love trips to the cinema as much as
curling up in front of the TV with a DVD. Happy with most genres,
but especially appreciate a good scary movie. Rather partial to
world cinema - Abre Los Ojos, Oldboy and Pan's Labyrinth spring to
mind.
Musically, I'm a bit of a completionist when it comes to Queen, but
I also love Meat Loaf, Tom Waits (obviously), Bob Dylan and Warren
Zevon. Have a couple of classical albums, but I'm not clever enough
to identify the pieces without mentioning the movies I've heard
them in. I'll listen to anything from AC/DC to ZZ Top on a daily
basis (God bless DAB radio) and I'm always looking to pick up
something new. The last three albums I bought were by The Killers,
Elbow and a Leonard Cohen collection (thirty-two songs about women
leaving him! Perhaps I shouldn't be recommending it here!). I like
the best of everything, I guess.
The six things I could never do without
Love.
Music.
My guitar.
A computer (sadly).
A comfy bed.
And... good old-fashioned optimism.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...worryingly, nothing springs to mind here.
On a typical Friday night I am
...exhausted, usually! That said, I enjoy socialising with pals,
but prefer pubs to clubs, these days. Might be eating out, or
heading for the cinema ... or just chilling out at home with a good
book, film or friend.
You should message me if
I guess my ideal date is someone honest and caring, sweet (nice is
important to me, but everyone seems to hate that label!), somebody
I can share a laugh with, snuggle up to. Someone who is as strong
as she needs to be, but who wants to melt into each other when
we're together.
If that sounds like you, please get in touch.
