I'm an eclectic. My interest in new things is quickly gained and quickly lost. I often cycle through interests in nature, art, music, science, computers, philosophy... then start over again. In no particular order. It would take a special combination of compassion, intelligence and humor to deal with me -- if that's not you, you may not want to read any further.

I love to be outdoors. I like to hike with my dog, Uri. He looks like a cute puff ball, but he's a mountain dog. I like to camp, walk in the park, sit on the beach, drive to no where in particular...

If you are looking to break the ice with me, I respond well to direct questions. Small talk baffles me. For instance, talking to me about the last episode of a popular show will draw a blank stare from me. So will asking me if I saw the game last night. I have a TV, but I've never hooked the cable up; I prefer reading. If you're looking for more in depth conversation, then you will find me more accommodating. I can talk for hours. By talk, I mean actually talk with you, not at you. If I have to carry the conversation, I'll get bored very quickly.

Enjoying it.

I don't believe life is about making progress or making gains. Nothing is permanent, including life in and of itself, so it seems to me more important to enjoy each person and every day while they're part of our lives.

Laughing. Getting other people to laugh.

Usually my eyes. I've been told I have the sad puppy dog eyes. When I'm happy, I look like I'm ecstatic. When I'm angry, I look menacing. When I'm sad, or just not happy enough to have a smile on my face, I often have people come up to me and ask me what's wrong. I've been told that it's because of my eyes.

I gave up a lot of my favorite foods to become a vegetarian. I'm particularly fond of apples and blackberries. I can still eat those. :)

The most common responses to this question that I've seen are food, water, and air. I've gone weeks without eating. I've run out of water in the middle of nowhere. I've had my breath taken away. These are what really matter to me:

1. My dog, Uri. We've been through some tough spots together.
2. A pen and a notebook. I keep one good pen on me for months, sometimes years. You'll rarely find me without my pen and a notebook nearby. Sometimes, you just have to write.
3. Sunshine. Other people relax by drinking, or dancing, or watching movies. I find some place to walk or climb to, no matter how hard it is to get there, and I look up. The view of the sun shining over the treetops as I sit on the side of a hill or mountain; a sunburst breaking through the leaves as I peer up through the branches of the trees; the sparkle, like glitter thrown in the air, of sunlight playing across the surface of a lake. That is my relaxation. I couldn't do without it.
4. Music. Music is soul that you can hear. I love Indie, Blues, Jazz, and classical.
5. Friends and Family: Without them, I wouldn't have a reason to be here.
6. Hope -- I can't just keep going. I need to have hope.

I think about where I will be a year from now, two years, or more. Where life will lead me. Who I will meet.

On a more superficial level, I'm very dyslexic and I spend a lot of time wondering if I spelled something correctly or wrote down that number right. Most of the time I didn't. :/
