My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Sigh. Hasn't "write a few sentences about yourself" almost become synonymous with aaargh? All right, I'll try to bow to necessity...

I like most of the sorts of things that are done for the enjoyment of the outdoors, and don't involve one random grouping of people trying to get some object through a certain region of space more often than another random grouping of people. Hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing are among my favourites.

Although I do enjoy being outdoors, I'm not nearly energetic enough to be very fit. I also enjoy a wide variety of sedentary activities such as reading, watching TV/movies, and playing video games. I'm somewhat selective in viewing material, mostly leaning towards science fiction; I like my fantasy fantastical. For games I prefer RPG/puzzle, although the odd racing game is fun too. Can you tell I'm not a big sports fan?

A final warning for the wise - I'm addicted to ferrets. Sure, cigarette packages come with tons of warnings about how addictive they are, but no one ever warns you about ferrets until it's far too late. And for me, it's far, far too late.

I am independent, laid-back, and a ferretaholic
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Trying not to think about what I'm doing with my life. Give me a break, I work for an insurance company (shudder). But I'm embarrassed about it, so I guess there's still hope.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I think I've come close to mastering the art of procrastination, but like to think there's still some room for improvement. My laziness has been acclaimed by the kind of people who won't satisfy their hunger because the pizza box is more than an arm's length out of reach.

Define "really". Among many other things, I enjoy hiking up mountains, kayaking, playing video games, taking photos. I suppose relative to people who don't do those things at all, I'm "really" good at them.

Probably nothing you'd want to put on a resume though, no matter what definition of "really" you use.

The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Don't really know. A friend once saw me coming, screamed, and ran the other way; unfortunately for this topic, I decided not to ask. Travellers on the TTC will probably notice the unusual sub-shirt movements in my stomach area. Could it be those mexican jumping beans I had for lunch? (If this doesn't make sense, you probably don't have ferrets).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
a. Mostly sci-fi/fantasy. Some of my favourite authors include Isaac Asimov, Steven Brust, Julie Czerneda, Lindsey Davis, Steven Erikson, C.S. Friedman, Timothy Zahn.

b. Haven't seen too many movies lately; some favourite TV series are Babylon 5, Stargate, Red Dwarf, Due South, Futurama, Ranma.

c. Pretty ecclectic taste in music, I'll usually find at least a song or two I like in any category of music, although if I had to choose just one category I'd say rock.

d.Food? Mmm, Vietnamese... Probably anything that's bad for me.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
friends, ferrets, spending time outdoors, books, camera, computers
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why I don't live in a parallel universe where the work week is Sat-Sun. (obviously reality isn't high on the list.)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Where are my keys? ... Oh, behind the fridge. Now didn't I have a second shoe somewhere? ... Right, halfway to the basement. A wallet would be useful... How the $#@(*&! did that get in the fridge? Where are my keys? ... Duh, Under the couch of course... (did I mention I have ferrets?)

(Btw, if you think that all this effort is in preparation for an exciting social entanglement, get ready for disappointment; I'm probably just going on a short evening ride before coming back home for an exciting night of reading/video games)

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!

You're really really insane, and you probably don't exist.
(i.e. you read this, you still want to talk to me, and you like ferrets)

I seem to remember joining this site way back when with the idealistic hope of meeting a circle of like-minded ferret enthusiasts, but all I seem to meet is people interested in dating. What's up with that?
