Hawaii born/raised/schooled offbeat redneck intellectual outdoors nerd. Lived in America for a few but got homesick & somehow managed to land a good job where i get paid to go camping all the time. For fun i go (back) to the woods or mess around in the ocean. Have travelled enough to know i don't do well in hot places with biting insects, beggars & bacteria. Rather do cool, clean and uncrowded with big mountains. Maui no ka oi. Definitely not into big cities. Call me a misanthrope if you want; people are fine in small groups but don't know why you'd want to put 7 billion on one planet.
Favorite thing to do: drifting a kayak along a wilderness coastline, hoping for a bite. My answer to the "glass half full or half empty" question: Quit nursing your beer! It's getting warm!

Trying to move ahead with the overload of personal & work projects I've got going on. Have way too much to do, but am enjoying it for the most part. Some of this crap might actually be worthwhile.

Getting dirty. NOT getting lost. Growing a beard. Stubbing a toe. Climbing things. Making pizza. Chainsaw work. Sarcasm. Bad puns. Breaking stuff and then improvising a fix. Herding cats with a leaf blower (multi-tasking). Offending people who have no sense of humor. Being a troll for Halloween.

Hair standing on end. Sunburned face. Creative profanity.

I read too much. Usually have at least 3 books going at once. Politics, history, science. Fictional or not - is there a difference these days? Don't own a TV; am I missing anything? Like my music fast, loud and complicated. Omnivorous.

Playing in the wilderness. The ocean. Good books. Cold beer. Raw fish. Loud music.

All the things i still have to finish fixing on my house. The next expedition I have to organize for work. Frigging workaholic.

Cleaning gear after a week in the field or packing stuff up for the weekend's adventure. Sometimes both. Or maybe just being a lazy ass and drinking beer while reading in the tub.

I don't own underwear. Always wear surf trunks underneath and ready to jump in the water!
