My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
MA-squared grad student, photographer, cultural researcher and sometimes-writer trying to strike a balance between traveling the world and staying in my little corner of it- mainly because I need a home for all the junk I've collected living, working, and traveling in 18 countries.

Also, I got a dog this year and turns out he's not really the jet-setting type.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Collecting stories.
Trying to find the place that will melt my writer's block like a nuclear sunrise.
Photographing instead.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
laughing at awkward situations. communicating through charades. keeping promises. rapid interior decorating. navigating uncertainty.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Usually something I'm wearing.
Oddly enough, my eyebrows. Weird, I know.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Looking in my hard drive: some mockumentaries, 70's neorealism, classic films, documentaries about music (and other things too), a bunch of foreign films, found footage, specific movies hmmm...Withnail and I, Raising Arizona, Blade Runner, Cleo from 5-7, Harold and Maude, Woody Allen movies, The Dreamlife of Angels, The Girl on the Bridge, Buffalo 66, Waiting For Guffman, David Byrne's "True Stories," The Man Who Fell to Earth, Terrible Movies to Watch Again and Again (Megaforce! Logan's Run!)

Where to start? A stone-skip of examples: A Confederacy of Dunces, David Foster Wallace, mid-century modern poetry, The Master and Margarita, Joyce, Brautigan (how'd you guess?) Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Cormac McCarthy, Michael Ondaatje, Denis Johnson, biographies of photographers....and on.

Currently reading: A biography of Walker Evans and tutorials on web design.
Not reading: most of my grad school assignments.

Music. All. My 70's Marantz record player and blowout speaker system are two of my favorite things.

A lot of electronic music. That whole vein of country singers like Hoyt Axton, John Prine, Buck Owens, and Townes Van Zandt. Tons of 60's/70's soul. Old, old reggae. Weird, experimental 80's music like Cabaret Voltaire. The Pixies, just like when I was fifteen. New + good.

I like cooking things that seem complicated but in fact aren't.

If you know me, then I've probably shortened your lifespan at least once with an elaborate, surprise triple-decker birthday cake.

Useless culinary innovator. Caffeinated pudding, anyone?

I'm not vegan (or even vegetarian) but I don't buy a lot of meat or dairy products. Why drink the bodily fluids of a large, mournful mammal when you can just as easily milk an almond, I say.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My camera, books, music, family, conversation, and passport.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
how you really can't, in fact, put the toothpaste back in the tube.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
if not obsessively editing photos in the middle of the night, then probably out in search of a place with live music and less neck tattoos on the prowl than usual.

That has only actually happened a few times in this strange little town, but a girl can dream.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
